Biostar announced the T-Series A785GE-128M, its first motherboard based on the AMD 785G + SB710 chipset. The micro-ATX board features an AM2+ socket, and supports a range of AM2/AM2+/AM3 CPUs, with support for DDR2 memory. The CPU is powered by a 4+1 phase VRM with shielded chokes and low RDS (on) MOSFETs. The AMD 785G northbridge embeds an ATI Radeon HD 4200 class IGP, which makes use of 128 MB DDR3 Sideport memory apart from shared system memory. Display outputs include D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI 1.3 (perhaps using a DVI dongle). Over HDMI, the IGP's own 7.1 channel HDCP compliant audio is passed. Expansion slots include one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot, and two PCI slots. The SB710 southbridge provides six SATA II ports with RAID support. Gigabit Ethernet and six-channel Realtek audio make for the rest of the package. It will hit stores soon, at a price of around US $90.

785, interesting, wonder how this stacks up against the 780's.

would this be much slower than the 790gx chipset?

it could be faster, its a 4200 rather then 3300 gfx core, and most likely this board will allow unlocking of cores IF you get a chip with cores that can be unlocked ;)

I saw this from some Japanese dude on the XtremeSystems forum. It's 785G with 710G southbridge. He was able to unlock the cores on a PII X2 550BE and clock it up to around 6GHz~ on DICE. :D Once this gets released, I'm ordering it. Here it is!

Hmm this is interesting... very interesting.. I can't wait until Newegg stocks this.

I wouldn't be surprised if this 785G would be the new 790... Overclocking wise, of course...

Why DDR2? Newer AMD chipsets and boards should require AM3. DDR2 is getting old and DDR3 is already cheap enough to where you could build a cheap htpc with it.

CPU-Z bug. Doesn't pick up SB710 on either of my SB710 boards either.

I just felt the need to bump this because Gigabyte already has mATX boards with the 785G chipset! http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=785g&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wf
