Universal abit representatives today said that the company is not going to leave the motherboard arena and DigiTimes rumors are not to be believed. Thore Welling, Universal ABIT Global Marketing Director pointed out:

In fact, particularly over the past 12 months we have been able to considerably increase market share not only in traditional markets such as Western Europe, but even stronger so in emerging markets such as East Asia as well as in the Middle East. Therefore, the broadening of our product lines into the Consumer Electronics (digital photo frames with integrated photo printer [FunFab] and MIDs) segment represents a stronger commitment to the overall brand and the continuation of our motherboard concept into other products. abit stays committed to motherboards and has a broad lineup of motherboards ready, as you will see in during Computex.

Did you read the initial statement? I am sure it is not a "hoax":

i think its just like chaintech claiming after walton bought them out that they wherent gonna change anything, in the end they will screw current costmers and close down their mobo buisness.......sadd but true.
:cry:Thank YOU! I almost shedded a tear. If fact i did. But now all is better. I love Abit, they are great boards, high quality, and usually much cheaper than the overpopular Asus and GB. Not hating, just saying.

Sigh. Its good that such a mobo mfgr doesn't go. I have yet to try Abit's boards.

The main problem is pricing and availibility... i hardly see any abit boards for sale thesedays, and when i do, they often cost more than an asus or gigabyte (their fatality mobos are often way too expensive)

GPU/CPU coolers. you got the standard coolers then then theirs the fatality coolers with 200 more RPM on the fans & a few flashy stickers & pictures of him on the box - that is all - your paying a price premium for just the box because his name & his face is on it
by: FreedomEclipsethe problem is that abits top end hardware isnt as good as other brands, yet due to the fatality labelling they cost a lot more. No one is going to buy an inferior product with a more expensive price tag, except for extreme fanbois.

The only Abit borad I have found to maybe want is the Quad board... but thats was for a bit, and I got my DOA Gigabyte board... I hope later on I'll see a board I like. Like to try anything I can

ya abit is very strong, they also dont need all the mobos that asus and gigabyte has to have a solid setup, now if they would release Elite AMD chipset boards.
Would have been a cold day if they did.
