Although the introduction of Intel Bloomfield, the next-generation processor from Intel was slated for November later this year, sources at motherboard companies report that Intel could prepone its launch to September along with the X58 system chipset platform. However it is known that motherboard vendors will not be in a position to bring LGA-1366 socket based motherboard into retail channels until early October. This might not cause internal-competition between Intel's products.

that would be so sweet :) altho i doubt it would happen.
Well thats my mind made up! I'm not gonna get an E8500 after all, lol. Or my ram, I will probably upgrade round christmas if this is true.
Anyone know if X58 is DDR3 only? And I assume if I get a 4870X2 it will still work on the new platform?
Cheers.

more likely it just means things are going well, and its not going to be a paper launch. There'll be good choices of hardware ready on the launch day, for once.
by: Musselsagreed - this is most likely going to mean lots of different products, all of the same thing. However if they are going to release early, well that will make some people very happy.

by: WhiteLotusyeah. i decided not to upgrade my systems any more until nehalem launches, it'd be shaweet to move to a nehalem tri channel DDR3 setup with two raided SSD drives and a nice new DX11 GPU....

by: Musselsi really want to upgrade now (damn you Fit for having such nice things!) but i have to save my money and then aim higher once the new Intel and the graphics card market has settled down a bit.

I bet Morgoth will be ery happy with the possibility of getting his new set up earlier.
by: MusselsIsnt DX11 years away though?

i guess it is cool to see them moving the date closer. btw, you dont need a - in pre-pone.
by: Easy RhinoBoth Firefox and MS Word mark it as wrong.

by: btarunrdont use those as references. google 'prepone' and you will find that it does not need a dash. as a side note, prepone is not technically a word but it does appear in the new oxford english dictionary. very strange.

If its in the english dictionary then it is a word by definition :p
by: tigger69haha true. now that i checked it for myself it does not appear in the oxford dictionary. after further investigation the word prepone is used heavily in india, where btarunr is from. so it makes sense. regardless, the dash is not needed.

 perhaps that's postpone. Indians + prepone don't fall in the same sentence. It's pseudo-prestigious to procrastinate here. I've been a prefect almost all my school-life, I've seen the world around me postpone things.
by: btarunrhaha. well it isnt a big deal. i just thought it was interesting that you used that word. then, when i read it is used heavily in india, the lightbulb went off.

":ohwell: Can I have your physics assignment? You've to submit it today, I'm collecting."
expected responses:
";) hey champ, come back tomorrow" , ":o I didn't finish it yet" , " s**** off bta!"
Anyways, it's pointless launching Bloomfield with no boards ready. Paper launches before schedule harm sales of existing products.

by: MusselsHah, I've been holding off upgrading since not long after the E6600 launched.

We knew the Q6600s were coming, and that they weren't native quads. We even knew Nehalem was being developed. It's just that not many people paid attention. So they ran out an got a Q, then a new E, then another Q and gained 10fps in the whole process.
Unless someone had a really aged system, I wouldn't recommend they upgrade at all right now.
I'm waiting on the price dumps on the current stuff when Nehalem comes out. Scavenging like a mofo!:)
For me it's tough... Get a car or upgrade computer?
by: flashstarhow is that tough?? get the car!

Yeah I think I'll upgrade to a Bloomfield and a LGA-1366 X58 board as soon as they become available. Assuming the prices aren't too outrageous. I'll maybe go ~$300 on the CPU and up to about $300 on the motherboard. Then buy some DDR3 RAM and I'm good to go.
by: btarunrI'm not sure I even understand this article when is the chip coming out? Is it coming out sooner?

by: Tatty_Onei know what you mean, i was gonna get, new ram, cpu, gfx card. already got a p45 mobo. then this! have no decided, I'm just gonna get a new gfx card cus that can move with me when i aim to go to the new intel platform around christmas.

Problem is for me, wait it out and get one, or just get a E8400 now and be done with it. Whats the known performance increase? 15% increase in performance I heard clock for clock? Problem is, that I would have to spend $120 more, as the 2.66ghz one is suppose to be released at around $300. :shadedshu
