If i buy a caviar black listed new from amazon (not directly from western digital but some guy), when the drive broke, will i be able to rma ?

Yes.. you would RMA through Western Digital.

For the drive you list, it is 5 years.. the Caviar Black is a flagship product... hence one of their longest warranties.

Yes,.. drives untampered with will always be RMA's to the factory under their provided factory warranty.

Now on the shipping and what the seller will do, I can't say for sure. -- I would recommend just sending him a direct message before sending funds to see how it will be handled.

You'll be better off with Caviar Black. It is possibly the best performing one in it's category. And silent.

i did some search on spinpoint f3 vs caviar black and came across this. the F3 1tb is third from top while caviar black 1tb is way below...Im not too sure tho because the other concern is warranty which WD beats Samsung. But if I can use a drive for more than 3 years I'm just happy to let it go. arrggg

PM him before you buy it and work something that or he can get you in trouble with ebay (if he's an asshat) for bidding on something knowing that he won't ship it to you.
