Hi again!

I need 5xx0 owner's help again.
I put together some code for 5xx0 signature processing. There are two signature file types now: The old 180 bytes version and the new 222 bytes version especially for 5xx0 cards. RBE automatically figures out which version to use, don't bother about that.

However, I'm still not quite sure if the section of the BIOS that is processed here is really the overdrive limit. So I need some testing done again from the community! :) Download this (http://www.banana.space.lc/RBE_125beta2.exe) new beta version of RBE. Do some signature testing. For starters: Load a BIOS that utilizes an overdrive limit that is higher (or at least different) than yours. Switch to the "additional features" tab in RBE and hit "Save..." in the "Method 1 - Hash" area. Save your signature.
Load your own BIOS then and click "Load..." in the "Method 1 - Hash" area. Load the signature you saved previously. The limits of the signature file will be displayed next to your own limits. Make sure the "Method 1 - Hash" radio button is checked as well as the "Change to these values" radio button. Save your BIOS now and flash. On reboot it might or may not be necessary to reinstall your driver due to new vendorID in the BIOS.

This might seem a bit complicated. Experienced users with any 5xx0 cards are much appreciated here.

To ease the search for a BIOS utilizing higher overdrive limits for your card I attached signatures for 5850 and 5870 cards. Both have been extracted from Asus card BIOSes and have slightly higher limits than the reference BIOSes.

Thanks in advance!

followed your method on my 5870 with the signature file I saved off of an Asus bios and it worked perfectly.

Flashed it to 900/1225 which are the same clocks as my 5970 is flashed to. The 5970 uses 1.1625v and I used the updated bios provided by ATI for 5870 which has 1.175v just to make sure it would be stable with the 900/1225 clocks.....the 5870 for sure would go much higher with these volts but with tri cfx 5970+5870 and 900/1225 I'm sure those speeds are plenty.

I'd rather use slightly more volts on the cores of both cards especially because I use eyefinity and gpu's need to be stable when running that config.

Great. Has someone else been successful?

After chasing my own tail for some hours this afternoon I put together this (http://www.banana.space.lc/RBE_125beta3.exe) new RBE beta version.

Forget all betas before, forget all 5xx0 signature files before.
Please try the new beta and these signature files. They should work across all BIOS versions now. Attached there are the new signature files for 5850 and 5870 as zip files as well as a package of both files in one .RAR, renamed to .DOC (just rename back).

Please try 'em out and post your results.
I think I'll have to go to bed early today...

I just tested the the 5850 signatures on my powercolor 5850 pcs+ bios and man do they work great! No more need for afterburner with this!
I set overdrive to 900/1150 (max for 5850pcs+ before was 875/1225 and now its 1200/1400) and gpu-z shows 900/1150.
Ran crysis benchmark twice and it did not glitch at all and it seems like it is more stable than afterburner which would flicker whenever I applied a setting beyond 875/1150.
Going to test now if this new RBE solves the problem with upping the voltage on this bios.
Tried changing the voltage from 1.038 to 1.228 @ 760/1050, the 3d mode for this card and overdrive still does this glitch where the current values get stuck. The values are stuck at 400/900 and even when I try to change the clocks with overdrive enabled it disables overdrive and remains at the clocks of 400/900.

Good to hear that! :toast:

Going to test now if this new RBE solves the problem with upping the voltage on this bios.

I thought the PCS+ has non-programmable voltage controllers (so called analogous controllers) only?

I don't know what analogous controllers are but I guess that would mean there really is no way to adjust the voltage on the pcs+.
I just thought since the bios actually stated various voltages for the different clock speeds it actually managed the voltages.
I suppose its probably just to conform with the other 5850's so ati doesn't have to make special drivers for the pcs cards.
Well not having to use afterburner is great on its own since that thing is glitch-y.
Thanks Baggz.

Signaturing seems to be working but RBE_125beta3.exe is producing non-working bioses.
Waiting for a fixed RBE 1.25 (beta).

I finaly got a working custom bios for my Sapphire HD5850.
With the RBE 1.25 final version I can use Overdrive bypass Method 2 succesfully.:toast:
So no need to use the (non-working) signatures.

I'm very happy with RBE 1.25 final, thanks a lot.:respect:

I also can use RBE 1.25 final with bios s3c00101-101 and the sig that mr BAGZZlash left in post #5. I have a Sapphire 5870 and have the card stable @ 1000 / 1250 with 1.300v for now.
I have problems with using ifinity and have recived Three (3) diferent bois from Sapphire tec (including the s3c00201-101 that is to be for the new PRO modle) and the only thing that has worked is to use the RBE with the new sig and manulay set volts to 1.300, no more flicker and lots of OC room in CCC. Thanks tones BAGZZlash you da man!!
