You can't. Anyone can buy it and when they're out of stock they'll just remove it from your cart.

Why do you need two eyefinity 6 editions. I mean...it has 6 ports on it, why not sli with a normal one?

Unless you are gaming way above 1920x1200, save your money and get a 1gb 5870 or better yet a 5850. There are no benefits to this card at normal "HD" resolutions.

OR, if your one of the few people who plays flight sims like DCS black shark and Flaming cliffs 2. the 2GB comes in handy.

It's really nice to finally see some 2GB cards, but swining at the $500 marker with the 480 on the way seems kind of stupid too me....

I agree... if your goign to use this to power a single monitor. But if going for eyefinity, I haven't ever got to test myself, but I just can't see how a 1GB card could ever push 3 monitors at 1080 with higher settings on a decent game.

$500 is too much. $450 yes, $500 no.

*sigh* Maybe when we actually see Fermi in the wild, the prices will drop some.

For those who are planning on setting up a 6-monitor setup .... check this
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/03/24/ati_radeon_5870_2gb_3x2_eyefinity_gaming_experienc e

Although the 6-monitor setup is great for CAD users etc... its not great for gaming ... and one can play games only at low settings/AI

But this card would be great for a 3-monitor setup though ... :toast:

what i never understood about this card is, if the cards out now just cover playing a game maxed out at high res's...how the hell is it going to cover 6 high res screens? enjoy playing stalker at low settings at ~30 fps on your 6 screens? no thanks

I don't believe it actually renders 6 screens...

You really need crossfire to do so. at 5760x1080, your putting alot of demand on the GPU...However dual 5870s handle BC2, Dirt 2, Dragon Age, Anno 4, and several other games at high settings just fine. The only thing that really kills FPS in eyefinity is AA, MSAA. I thought my GPUs were dead when i first loaded up BC2, turns out I had AA and MSAA maxed and even with twin 5870s you get 5 FPS...

no it will take the vertical / horizontal resolution of all of the screens and render that as one big screen

Yeah, which pretty much defeats the purpose of having 6 monitors on a single card for gaming. You need more than one card anyway.

You realize that for that price you get a bunch or mini DSP adapters.

Still not worth $500 to me. If I was spending $500, I would expect more performance in addition to a bunch of adapters. For $500, Fermi performs better. Not that I'd buy Fermi either tho.

At huge resolutions you don't need AA, so run 4X AF and 2X AA for the same benefit.

You realize at high resolutions Fermi actually fails harder than the 5870?

I mentioned in another thread - I wonder if we might end up seeing a 4GB 5970 model in the near future?

1 left in stock. You check stock levels by putting it in cart and changing quantity to any number above the current stock level. If it's less it will show you how many you can buy.

The only performance relevant to me is 1920x1200. Fermi wins there. Besides, I don't want to buy Fermi either.

I'm holding off till the next round, unless I happen upon some sort of killer deal on 2x5850, 2x5870, 5970 or Fermi.

I'll let you in on a little secret: Charlie has already stated on the S/A forums that "the next round (read refresh)" at least for AMD will be on 40nm.

28nm TSMC: Risk late 4Q 2010, full production 2Q 2011
28nm GF: Risk 1Q 2011, full production 3-4Q 2011

A "cooler and better" Fermi isn't coming till next year, spring is said to be best bet.
AMD 6 series is said to be Evergreen shaders inside next generation architecture.

If I had the time to pay attention to the tech convention, then I might not be wondering about the possiblity of a fatter dualie . . .

Care to enlighten me?

I got a awesome deal on mine. Wait for the newegg specials, then use one of the coupons they send out occasionally. Or when they give you a pending rebate for a fucked up order.

Probably got lost in amongst all the talk of 5970s. I know XFX will have one and I think Sapphire will too.

Here is the XFX: XFX 5970 4GB Black (http://www.techpowerup.com/118730/XFX_Alters_Radeon_HD_5970_Black_Edition_Design.htm l)

I don't really care what Charlie has to say. I think he's a moron. I'll wait for more trustworthy sources. Doesn't matter tho, either way, I'm pretty good right now, performance wise. No need for me to upgrade right now.

Yeah - I completely missed that article amoungst the dramacano of 480.

Horrendous price. Hopefully the other ATI vendors will step up as well, but I doubt the price would budge if nVidia don't step up the competition.

I guess I'll just watch how things develop . . . while I continue to wait for 5970 supply to resurface :ohwell:

Wow the 6 port is amazing ! I'll stick with my 5850 xfire :) The extra "1gb" is for those who want to take advantage of Eyefiniti without major FPS drop, eitherway --that HIS MW2 card looks bad ass!

I'll slum with regular triple HD 5870 Crossfire. Not paying 1500usd to replace them.

Regular 5870s are over on ZZF for 395usd with free shipping.

Great card. lJust a bit pricey.

EDIT: Actually thought about it twice. I think its worth every penny for those who game at high resolutions. It might not be worth for some of your'll but it sure is worth every cent for some people. Specially those running Eyefinity.

well no because with crossfire makes the second card's ports unusable. if it didn't i'd agree but as is the only way to do gaming is to crossfire 2 cards, and use the 6 ports on card one to power the monitors.

You are missing my point. A single card is not capable of running a 6 monitor setup at good quality with decent framerates. You have to turn everything down. This makes 3x2 Eyefinity mostly useless for gaming.
