Hello i just downloaded ATITool 0.0.22 and have been running it with my card. my defaults are 398.00/304.00 and i have overclocked to 450/305 96/105FPS 107AVG. im just wondering how far i can go for it be safe and not blow my card up. i have put some heatsink compound on the fan/heatsink, so i hope that might cool it off a bit, i have a PCI fan below it blowing the hot air that comes off the heat sink out the back of my case. how far has everyone safely overclocked theirs? oh and my card is an ATI so i can flash it to a FX....or i havnt found a way.. :D

the memory is at the top endish of the spectrum but you clock should go another 50mhz easily, My 9600 series (none pro, se, xt) runs at 505/303

well i got it up to 490, it wouldnt go past 499 cuz it was generating artifacts

on a pro
thast seems weird they usualy go to 500 very easily, can your ram go higher maybe, the mem test is pretty safe on ati tools.

if i find max memory it takes my core clock down
Nov 4, 2004, 11:02 PM
im sitting at 489.86/300.86 97-115FPS 108AVG

490.91/326.45 97-122FPS 113AVG it didnt take my clock too far down, only to about 480

youve got better ram on it tahn mine, mine gets realy i=unstable past 310, i can take my core up to 550 though (need more cooline after pronlonged use dow), anyone got any idea oin were the heat sensoer would be locatdeso i can check if my card has one (its visualy identical to the abit 9600xt 256)
Nov 4, 2004, 11:16 PM

i have mine at 490.50/326.25 safely, i cant get above 500 with my core cuz i start generating artifacts. and i dont get above 90deg F. i have an external temp monitor on the heat sink of my video card.
Nov 6, 2004, 08:28 PM
yea, that looks right, around 500/325 i believe is the best it can do. I'm using a 9550 and it's reaching it's limit somewhere around there.

Strange.... I can`t get it higher than 440/330 without artifacts.

try a flash to an XT mine runs at 150AVG, and ranges upto 170 fps

Just FYI, if I remember correctly the RAM is designed to clock up to 350MHz.

Well i am kind of new in all this, so flashing the card scares me a little. Can`t it go wrong so the card dies?
Does some of you have a link to a guide that tells how to flash the card?
Nov 8, 2004, 10:05 PM
Dont flash your 9600 series cards- there is no benefit. The core will not clock any higher. If you really wanted to permanently change your memory timings i guess you would, but no other reason.
