Hello :) I have problem deleting a file which i created with Winrar. I was trying to make an archive with the STALKER SOF patch and some of my save games to send them to a friend when i accidentally put a : (colon) character in the name of the zip archive. Now on the desktop i have file called S.T.A.L.K.E.R. which i am unable to delete because it says 'Could not find this item'. The filename i entered was 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl 1.0005' so i assume it thinks the file is located in 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:' drive which is non existing. Any way i can delete this file ?

Malware Bytes Anit-Malware has a tool called File Assassin that should do it.

Just tried to recreate the problem, and I couldn't. Hmm.
Does it show up in My Computer as a drive? Does it show up in Disk Management?

You can recreate it if you right click on a file then select Add to archive and in the name field put 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl Update v1.0005' , a error message will appear which i wa too dumb to read :(
And no it doesn't show as drive either in My computer or Disk management

Thats what I get when I try to make the same name as your file.
Then I get an error saying its not found and i cant delete it either. Hmmm...

See if taking ownership of the file allows you to delete it.
Sounds silly but try it.
No doesn't. Working....

Got it. Cut and paste it into a new folder, then delete the folder.
After doing this, the file that I originally added to the archive has now gone grey (as if I've clicked "Cut" and it's waiting for me to paste)

Did you do shift+delete? That's what I did.
FYI, it also left behing a registry entry that CCleaner hasn't found (easy to search for though).

It tells me it cant do that because it cant find the file.

Any way outside of windows will do it. Even a windows XP setup disc can do it (through the repair console thing)
