I just started having strange problems after updating steam. Now I'm sure as hell not going to blame valve for messing my computer up, but somethings up for sure. Virgin computer messed up suddenly = weird. Movies and older games like Starcraft run fine. 9600xt rig , aopen 19' monitor LCD, 2.8 GHz P4 D, Asus P4p800, 512 mb ram infineon

Notice weird colour of Bitcomet icon

Is your video card dust free?

Reinstall your drivers. Run DriverCleaner after uninstalling the drivers. Then install a fresh new one.

reinstalled the drivers, heck reformatted the computer, yet the same problems arose.

opened up case today to 'clean' the card; still no change. Definitely looks like a hardware problem but dont know if it can be fixed. :(

there are yellow cubes sitting on top of some of the components and appear to be partially blackened. Is this an indication of a burnt out card?

I'd say its time to buy a new card.

lol, ATi has some good cards on the market at the moment, and the X1950pro is headed to AGP soon by the way.

Ill just wait for dx10 then :D

Actually really tempted to get a PS3 and somehow hook up a keyboard to it :P

You'll be waiting for a while on DX10 cards from Nvidia and ATi unless you want a enthusiast class video card.

Maybe now i can focus on getting into med school :ohwell:

PS: changed artifact detection to older method. still glitches on games, but ati tool recognizes no problems
