I did a last favo(u)r to my good old system :pimp: and bought an Xpert Vision X800 GTO [AGP].
System is an AMD AthlonXP 3200+ / MSI K7N2 Delta Platinum / 2x512MB MDT DDR.

I was aware that XpertVision is not comparable to i.e. Sapphire,
but wasnīt in the mood to spend much bugs for a replacement of my Sapphire 9500@9700

Well, the card comes with speeds 400/350 using GPU R420 :) and Hynix DDR1 :ohwell:.
After identifying the RAM model# I checked the specs at the Hynix website:

So, by default this slow RAM is overclocked by 50 MHz, right?

I remembered a post by Dolf in which he pointed out that the R420 is designed to run speeds up to 520 MHz (and more).
That made me feel better and I bought a Zalman V700 AlCu cooler.

I didnīt let ATi Tool overlock the GPU til it found artefacts and stopped,
cause 500 MHz seemed to be enough improvement.

Playing my beloved F.E.A.R. Combat for over two hours without any errors occuring
nor anything that could be viewed as a critical something might be a good test.
Worked perfectly, much more performance.

Now Iīm asking myself if overclocking the RAM may cause a critical heat issue.
Note: the card has no temperature monitoring abilities :ohwell:

Or any `better` Timing Settings?
Thanx for help! :)

With 12 pipes and good cooling your R420 could go up to 580MHz. The memory should reach app. 400MHz. It is possible to have less voltage on the memory than specified 2.5 or 2.8V (depending on the revision). Changing TRP from 6 to 7 could result in higher overclock (up to 10%).

Thatīs GPU +33%, MEM +14% @TRP:7 anyway - Iīm happy now :)
