Most pc 3200 (400) ram is backwards compatible to pc 2700 (333) and pc 2100(266)

Any ram rated at a higher speed than you will run it at, will run at the lower speed automatically.

Is that any mobo with do like that?

Only mobo's that can only support 266DDR Ram. Using a mobo that supports 400DDR will let your 400DDR ram run @ 400Mhz.

So, lets say your motherboard only supports up to DDR266, you put in a DDR400 stick, it will jsut run at DDR266 speeds.

aaahmmmm, ok, how about a DDR400 mobo capable (intel D865GBF) then using a 2.4A(533Mhz FSB) CPU, will it still run @ DDR400 speed or will it only run @ DDR333 speed?............
the thing is, im planning on upgrading my ram now then the CPU(to a P4 HT - 800Mhz FSB) maybe later should the budget allows me to...
