Hi guys, nice to see y'all about.
I was chatting to a friend who has the x800pro. Scoring around 10700+ in 3dmark03. I forgot his specs. I'm running a 9800aiw with w1zzards softmod scoring around 7000.
He said there wouldn't be much of an improvement with my set up if I traded up to a x800pro, I'm not sure, what do you think?(specs below).
He also mentioned something about the manufacturers finding it reallly hard to get hold of a chip or something, so they will probably restrict it to the xt and use an uprated version of an older chip for the x800pro.
Could you at all help me or clear the matter, I was a bit "blurry" when we spoke and I wont see him for a good while now.

I don't know what he's think of because moving from a 9800 to an X800Pro will help a lot.

I second that. The X800 Pro is a completely different core. From the title of this thread, I thought someone soft- (or hard-) modded the 9800 Pro to be like a X800 Pro, but I was mistaken.

Perhaps a more important factor is if they have an AiW version of the X800 Pro yet. I love my 9800 Pro AiW, and I wouldn't trade it in for a X800 without AiW functionality.

Best thing to do is get a X800 pro vivo Cause you can softmod those to a X800 XT PE.
From what i've read not much have failed. (maybe 2 or so but they had different mem on each sides) So that would be a good choice...

I agree, but if youre short on cash just stay w/ the 9800

As Frozen applied i think 9800 is the card to choose atm, but if you got plenty of cash. Go buy yourself a X800 and feel pretty for a while :)

He already has a 9800 se softmodded. So no need for him to get a real 9800 pro if his softmodded 9800 se works fine. Anyways as i already posted here gettin a X800 pro vivo is a better choice then the normal X800 pro cause the vivo has a really big chance of becoming a X800 XT.

like sad before x800Pro vivo got a big chance of being an XT PE.

I would say all x800Pro VIVO cards are XT based cards from the beginning but didnt make the xt clocks right. i got an Sapphire x800Pro@XT before the flash my card did like 530 on core no it does 490. so all VIVO cards are xt cards that cant handle the speeds that good..

I feel an x800 will compliment my system well and possibly open up a bottleneck. But what about the chip availability that my friend mentions?
If they are gonna stop putting them in the pro's then surely now is the time to go for one other wise the softmod wont work?. Know anywhere in the uk with a x800 vivo?
