Hey

I just got some oc done on my system.
P4P800-E Deluxe
Intel P4 3GHz Prescott
512Mb Infineon PC3200
ATI Radeon X800PRO VIVO
WD Raptor 36Gb
480W PSU

I had my cpu running at 3.3GHz. The AGP/PCI Bus was locked to 66.66/33.33. The FSB/DRAM was 1:1
FSB was 220. Performance mode was Turbo. CPU Vcore was 1.355V. AGP was 1.5V. Ram was 2.75V.
DDR timings were 2.5-3-4-6. They were most of the settings but I can't remeber the rest
Now I had my system oc for a while now. I had run 3DMARK about 15 times or so and played plenty of games. It seemed to be stable untill I was playing Quake 3 and then it crashed. I had to revert to default settings. Do you think I should of had my core voltage a little higher? That what I think it was. I have CPUZ and I had a few programs running and the vcore changes a little so I think it is lack of power. Any help is a apprecitated!!

Thanks-Dan

Aren't You lucky that you will receive my 200th post? :p

So, You can easly set the Vcore 0.2v higher then it is on default.

if you download sandra sisoft, then go to CPU&BIOS info, you can see what kind of voltages your CPU can handle.

->For example, I got an P4 Northwood 4C, which is from 1.6-3.4GHZ. (1.475v-1.575v)
Only difference on the cpu's are the mutliplier and the default Vcore, meaning my CPU can run on 1.575 100% stable.

What I would do is: see what is the max vcore your CPU can handle,
then up it with 0.1v to be certain. If you are already on your max, up with 0.2v
from the max.

also, try to do a bios-update, always helps.

Hey

I got one more question for you. I strated to tinker with the corevoltages today. Nothing major but just taking the setting from auto and putting in a value. Before I took it off auto the core was anywheres from 1.3-1.6v, It varies I find. If found what my max core is (1.4v) and i set my core to 1.365. Now in cpuz it say the voltage for the core is sometimes 1.36 but mostly 1.392-1.408v. Why does it have more voltage then I set it too? And why does it vary like that?

Thanks-Dan

Ya its kinda weird...u'd almost think if it varies like that its unstable. Thanks for help.

All CPU voltages fluctuate depending upon the CPU usage. If you sit at idle with CPUz open you'll notice the lower voltage, but if you then run something such ans Prime95 to test the stability you'll see the vcore jump up. It's just to save heat and power.
