I was playing with ATITool, finding the max clock and memory, and set my 9700 to it, played Need for Speed, and everything was cool. Upon restart, I got a seriously whacky "Windows XP Home Edition is Starting..." splash screen that looked like a clor negative (somewhat) with very bright blue and magenta colors, and barely recognizeable.
After the desktop loaded, everything returned to normal, and the clock speed had returned to default.
The strange splash screen at system startup continued for five more times, but seemed to "fix itself", because it stopped happening.
But now when I try to play Need for Speed Underground, it will only play in black and white!
My system:
Dell Inspiron 9200
Dothan 1.8
256 MB RAM
Radeon 9700 M
Omega Driver
The maximum clock speed found was 579, and memory was 263.
I never went above that (even set the clock saftey range).
I saw no artifacts.
I reinstalled the game, and rinstalled the driver.
No change.
The black and white game screen is the only problem right now.
