Pentium4 HT 3.0ghz 630 prescott VS. Athlon64 3200+ winchester 939pin

Which will you choose if you have to choose one?

Pretend both have:
- 160gb HDD 7200rpm 2mb cache
- 1.5gig ram
- x850xt pci-express

Which will perform better in Far Cry (max setting) ?

I would go for the athlon as well. I love the 939 series of cpus. imo they were better than intels offerings.... which all changed when c2d came out..

That 630 was a heaps hot cpu as well

Athlon. P4s suck.

Although, try and get a Venice core instead.

3ghz P4?

I'd rather a P3, thanks.
The 3200+ is prettymuch guaranteed to walk, stomp, run circles around, light on fire, and beat with a golf club, a 3Ghz P4 of any sort.

I went from a 3ghz p4 to a 3200+, which i then overclocked and ran circles around my old p4.

Does that answer your question?

since far cry was optimised for AMD processors its obvious the AMD chip would win would win this battle.

It's optimized for both, the amd is just simply faster thats all.
