the good 2.4's were northwoods IIRC M0 stepping 30 cap. its been a while since 2.4's were in my head :o
with a presscott 3.2 or higher you can enable CPU lockfree with my mobo allowing small changes to the multi ;)
an extreme edition is well, just extreme :pimp:

so that means I could only realistically use two sticks of RAM with the booster?
Estimate shipping to the UK for me..

it would take up 1 of your ram slots so you would be limited to 3 slots only. i dont think youll have dual channel with 3 sticks though. not 100% on that.
i would guess it to be between $10-$15cad (give or take) seeing as i was quoted $12 to ship the ram to finland including protective packing.
thegave
Feb 3, 2008, 04:10 PM
I'm pretty sure I won't have DC with 3 sticks, and performance with 2x512mb is probably going to be better than 3x512mb. And I worked so hard to source the extra pair of xms3200xl..
Do all vdimm Booster things have to be plugged into a dimm slot?
JrRacinFan
Feb 3, 2008, 06:46 PM
If you had 2x512 and 1x1GB, then you would have dual channel. But the timings and volts would have to match on all 3 sticks.
Also, I am afraid all boosters have to be connected to a dimm.

AH BH-5 goodness :D
what mobo are you planning to use? check to make sure its compatible ;)
it will give on avg of 3.3v-3.8v IIRC (some boards allow more than others)
worked great for me i was feeding 3.6v to a pair of pc4000VX in my p4p800dlx for a while b4 1 stick burned out.
MUST be used with adequate cooling!

I don't know, how much diff is there between BH-5 and TCCD? I have 2gigs of TCCD already.

Feb 7, 2008, 11:19 AM
i've got two DDR boosters - yes they have to be in the DDR slot to work, preferably the outside slot. They're a little thicker than the average ram + ramsink, and you cant see the LCD panel (to adjust voltage) if you have it packed away.

no problem with that in the asus boards really depends on ur case layout ;)
@thegave : BH-5 need lots of volts to achieve high freq + ultra tight timings whereas TCCD needs less volts will clock as high or higher BUT slightly looser timings, and for cooling id say 30cfm:)

ah the insaneley clocked pc5000 DFI specials?
TBH my VX (bh-5/ch-5) @ 1:1 250 2/2/2/5 was better than anything else ive ran in my rig, was a bitch to get it running right and stupid me was n00bish in those days i didnt have enugh cooling on my ram and 1 stick eventually burned
not to much DDR ram can clock higher than 250/260 and still have good timings. i think world record for BH-5 is ike 316 or something
BH-5/TCCD is about creme de la creme for DDR users

There was a 3.4ghz northy es on ebay uk but don't know if its still active. Try doing worldwide searches on ebay man, most sellers aren't that bad and half decent. Except this one guy who was buying FAULTY CPUs lapping the Ihs and selling them as untested, "as-is" p4 3.4ghz EEs. What an asshole. I wanted to buy one from him as well.
