GeIL has just unveiled its new Black Dragon Evo One DDR2 memory series, which is available in both dual- and quad-channel kits and ships with impressive heatsinks which use Maximised Thermal & Conduction Dissipation (MTCD) technology. The modules are built using eight-layered PCBs featuring FBGA DDR2 IC chips, and are available in a selection of twelve kits – 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, running at either 800MHz or 1066MHz with timings of 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-15 respectively. All of the Black Dragon Evo One kits come with a lifetime warranty.

a selling point. and maybe a futreproof idea. the way things are going i would be suprised to see default quad channels in the future

8GBs of memory at pretty respectable timings. Im sure these are premium priced memory though. Also, FBGA ics? Who makes those? I was hoping for Md9s.

I thought black dragon was geils performance type ram and yet they release a set of DDR800 @ cas 5!!! what the....

You can just go and buy the generic geil with the same timings as that...

Or some D9's :p

The 800MHz is 4-4-4-12. Re-read the newspost -if it's still confusing I'll change it :)

The CAS 5 refers to the modules that run at 1066MHz.

Geil and Gskil FTW forever!!!

I always buy these brands over others, especially that Corsair crap.
They charge you like a 100 bucks more the exact same chips.
I don't know why people pay it.

http://img.techpowerup.org/071120/Geil_BD_Evo_One_03.jpgThat's just the SPD. AKA: The timings it boots at before you manually set them.
Im assuming then it doesnt. Im still not clear on the FBGA's or FGBA's or whatever its called.FBGA refers to how the IC's connect to the pcb. Fine Ball Grid Array

Back on topic: I thought remembered seeing the Evo One name last year sometime. They had prototypes on display. They had their own external power. Power came from a floppy connector, and you adjusted the voltage with a small screw. I still want to see this in production. Takes one worry out of mobo selection.
