Im wondering if a WD Raptor @ 10,000rpm increases 3DMark scores and/or gaming performance...

Thanks

No it won't. It will load game levels/maps/ and Windows a few seconds faster, but thats about it as far as gaming. It will show marked improvement in burst speeds in HDTune/HDTach, but unless your doing alot of constant reading/writing to the HDD, it will not be noticeable enough to warrant the price (as I have discovered).

From what I hear, the geniuses that run TPU may be starting an HD review database sometime in the near future.

Stay tuned...

IF your a gamer especially games like NeverWinter Nights (RPG's), Oblivion, that have a lot of map loads (zones) then it is a nice feature to have and will save you many many hours of sitting and waiting for the next level to load.

As for 3dmark or any GPU/CPU based benchmarks HD's will not have much if any effect.

If you go to storagereview.com and look at their database, you can find some drives that come close in terms of speed/performance with WAY better value. :pimp:
