View Full Version : ATI X850XT(R480) only with 8 pipelines, Help!!!

Dear all,

I have a piece of ATI X850XT(R480), but only with 8 pipelines, who could advise me whether I could open the other 8 pipelines? The details of the card as below:

My card should be same as Pic X850xt1/2/3/4, only the core# should be 215RBOAGA11FF, GF5022.1, 0445AA. others all the same.

I had tried to flash the 16P Bios, but while log in systems, it always show 8 pipelines as pic ATI tool. 3D mark 01: 22000; 03: 9800; 05: 4800. Anyone could help me? Thanks very much...

It has 16 pipelines. The r480 never had only 8 pipelines.

The ROPs are being misread. Check gpu-z.

Yeah, that's fine. It's the 'pixel shaders' section you wanna look at, which correctly states 16. It is misleading, because it used to be 'pixel pipelines'. You're ok anyway, they only ever dissabled quads for the x800gto/gto2 series of cards, and yours is a genuine x850 ;)

His 3D mark scores are not high enough to be a regular 16 pipe card. Looks slower than 12-pipe X850Pro.

Try downloading GPU-Z.

This card probably has never been X850XT. Somebody cheated you with X800GT BIOS flashed to X850XT or something like that. The core has and will remain with only 8 working pipes. Technically it is X850XT but the core has 8 bad quads which are disabled.

Thanks for your reply. And which actions should i take to open the other 8 pipes, or I couldn't?

If flashing a 16 pipe bios doesn't work, flashing a 12 pipe bios might. I'd also try overclocking the card with atitool, some R480 cards easily overclock past 600mhz core/600mhz mem.

I had flashed the 16P X800GTO bios, and find the "pixel shaders" change to 12, but active ROPs still show 8, and the fan runs so fast(Maybe the bios issue). And which 12P bios I should choos? Thanks

The stock bios for x800gto2 and x850Pro bios both use 12 pipes. Though I'm not sure where to get them.
