So today i decided to install a fresh copy of XP home and update it to the most current software. Afterwards i install Cat8.2 that i had save on my flash drive but then i noticed the 8.3 were so i un-install, used driver cleaner [cleane cab too] and install 8.3. but then after my pc restars from installing the new driver my screen stops reciving signal and goes black but my pc keeps going like nothing happened.

i tried everything, like using driver cleaner on safe mode, plus downgrading to older Catalysts [i.e 8.2, 8.1], but i still get the same problem. My PC has been running fine with 8.2 since it came out.

what can causing this conflict?

Instructions on ATI site mention that you should be sure to remove the ATI uninstaller tool before installing/updating drivers.(add/remove programs > ATI uninstaller tool > remove).
Defragging the HDD before downloading new ATI drivers has also proven to resolve problems.

You may have to go back even further into ATi's driver library. Try 7.6's.
