Basically the packet size is limitted to only 7000 Bytes. It only really affects really long file transfers over gigabit. 100Mb/s is limitted to 1500 Byte packets anyway. So if you are running a 100Mb/s network it won't affect you at all.

If you are running a Gigabit network, then the connection will be slightly slower during large file transfers over the network, it will not affect internet speed at all though. That standard fame size for Gigabit is 9000 Bytes. So having a limit of 7000 Bytes will be slightly slower, but pretty close to unnoticeable.
