I have just installed a 9600gt and just can't get it stable even under clocking it. I am aware of the PCI bus speed affecting its clock speed Ive tried AUTO settings and 100mhz in the bios still not happening for me. Haven't even tried playing a game yet just 3Dmark06, it will complete some times, 80% of the time it just seizes. any help would be appreciated

Are you sure your cpu oc is 100% stable? Try running it at stock and see if it still does it. And drivers.. Make sure you using the latest ones from Nvidia.com

reset your BIOS to factory default, there should be no reason if you are over clocking your GPU that it would effect anything in there, unless you think you can over clock it by changing you BIOS setting which you cant.

is this the standard palit 9600gt or the sonic version?

I bet it's a driver issue.
174.53 (http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/174.53/174.53_geforce_winvista_32bit_english.exe) would just fine 'n' dandy for your 9600GT.

probably, if its the bog standard 9600gt then the cooling it uses dont seem too good tbh, worse than reference

Just to rule out thermals dl and fire up Rivatuner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=163) and check the load temps.

On my old agp system, with my x800, I used to get random crashes, during gaming mostly.... I had to update my bios, and the problem magically went away. Dunno if you've tried that or not.
