View Full Version : 8800GTS 320MB or 8800GS 384MB?
Title says it all. They're both around the same price right now...

What about the 9600GT? It probably deserves some consideration in this price range. With some of the MIR's it ends up comparable in price for more performance.

I agree with Paulieg...9600Gt FTW!

I would probably go for the GTS but that is just me. The fact that you can get one for $114AR is crazy. It seems like it might be a tough decision as they both have their handicaps.

8800GTS 320MB or 8800GS 384MB?
I had the same upgrade path, then I thought about getting two 8800GS or two 8800GTS 320MB cards for SLI, since in low res they can both beat 8800GTS 512MB, in some games at least. But the prices rapidly dropped on all nVidia cards in the last 10 days or so and in the end I just went and got a 8800GTX 768MB. I recommend the same. It's worth the money at this point. They can be had for about $250 or less on eBay or for about $300 AR from Newegg (the EVGA one), and in half the games with AA/AF cranked up it makes 9800GTX look real miserable. Plus, if you get the EVGA 8800GTX from Newegg, you can step up to EVGA 9800GTX for only $10 if you are not satisfied.

I just sent in my 320 meg 8800 gts for EVGA's step up program. I was very dissapointed with the card to be honest. I saw the same performance out of my 8600 gt 512 meg card when playing crysis. If your gonna stay with the 8800 cards, make sure you pick a g92 card, hell of alot better than the g80 cards(which is what the 320 meg 8800 gts is). Definently get a EVGA card, that way, if your not happy with whatever card you choose, you can trade it in on a new better card and get full credit for what you spent on whatever card you get now.
