id advise in changing the psu for a better make, corsair, antec etc and the memory you might want somthing a bit better looks like value ram to me you might want to get some ocz, coraair or gskill and since you wont be overclocking try getting Cas 4 neither much more expensive than what youve chose but better quality etc overall not a bad build tho goodluck :toast:

all right, the only thing I can say is why the sli board if your getting a 3870? There isn't a real reason to get an sli board if your going ATI over Nvidia.
I would think about an Asus P5kc (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131188) It has the ability to go ether ddr2 or ddr3. And should be good for the fact your not ocing it...

Because my current mobo has PCI express 2.0 slots and I heard those are one of the best.

Its a good mobo, that I will not say it isn't ... but I believe if your not going sli or an nvidia card then a Nvidia northbridge or southbridge isn't the best to go. The reasoning behind the sli bridges is the fact that Intel couldn't fork over the money to Nvidia for sponsorship to their boards so they fork money instead for their own sytle.
I can see the board in a reasoning of having a 9600gt or something like that.. not an Nvidia board for ATI card..

Darn, im so confused now. My friend picked out my mobo and graphics card and he said "trust me, its great get it" so i agreed. Then you guys tell me otherwise. I do trust this site more though. Can someone just recommend me the parts that i should change, I would greatly appreiciate it. Thank you and sorry for not knowing about computers :(

Don't be sorry about the fact your are learning. Its a process that everyone comes across... You've told us at the start what you want to do. The thing with the mobo is one of two things, are you looking into having duel (cross fire is ATI Cards and SLI is Nvidia cards) video cards!? or future proofing yourself?
So with that in mind, let us know more on what your going at.
Then from that we can build a system.

First of all let me thank you guys for your help. Second of all, I want to build this computer to last me a decent amount of time, thats why I am not Overclocking. I also want more bang for the buck. My budget is around 1k-1.15k. I would like to have future options for upgrades on the same computer. I would like 2.0 pci express slots on my mobo but its ok if not. 4G ram. Quad core.

Any other questions plz ask :) thanks

All right, thats the questions that we need to help you...

Mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813136045)

looks like an awesome Mobo with the ram. And how about the videocard, should I stick with the current one?

The msi is a pretty nice card. I had a Gecube one but because of the fact that I multi task on a lot of video stuff I wanted a 1gb card. If its just gaming and things like that then your 3870 should hold you off for quite some time.

anything else?? you can ask for every piece of the pie if you want to.

lol thanks alot. So I changed the the mobo and ram with your recomendations. It came out to 1146$ just as I wanted :) So with all my parts including the new mobo and ram, would all these components work together? Or do you have any other suggestions?

well, the psu could use a upgrade.. its not a bad psu, but i don't trust the fact it says 600 watts but it only shows 585 max.. That just doesn't fit right with me.. IMO.
This might (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703005) be at your liking on a quality psu. imo...

If you want to use 4GB of RAM then your choice of a 32bit of 64bit operating systems will need to be considered. The 32bit can not utilise fully 4GB of RAM, a 64bit can.

Should you want to look at a Nvidia SLI set up here is a good MoBo Asus P5N-E SLI nVidia nForce 650i Intel 775 really fast at lot like the Striker but cheaper. I am running 2 XFX 9600GT Alpha Dog cards and they rock.

You could always go the AM2 route (phenom) and save some money. Not to mention the 790x and 790FX chipsets are pretty solid and have pcie 2.0. However, if you must go Intel, get a board that would allow you to crossfire, if you are going the ATI route. Id change the psu to Corsair 650 or 750W or a PCP&C. Just something to think about. Dont go cheapo on your PSU or you will regret it.

I'd avoid the samsung HDD... Sumsung HDDs produce more heat than seagates (well has for me)

I have a Samsung 400GB and a Seagate 750GB and the Samsung is a Slave drive I just use to store stuff on i Don't access much yet the Samsung runs 12* higher than the Seagate master drive and this caused a great deal of problems for me during the past summer.

Not sure if its a common issue or what not but yeah.. just my personal exp.
