Hey I'm going off to college and I need to buy a laptop. I would like for the laptop to have a 8600 gt or something equivalent so I can sort of play games. I know of the cyberpower website and the buyxg website. I really dont know what kind of laptop to buy though, I was looking to spend 700-1200.

First off check with your college (maybe their website) and see if you can get a student discount through someone. I'm attending UOP online and they have an incredible discount for laptops through Dell and HP. (Also you can custom build HP's and Dell's to your liking)

I would say go with HP, Dell, or Lenovo. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R61 for college. Course i got it with XP. Lenovo's are pretty well built and last a long time if you pick the right stuff. Look at my system specs for whats inside the beast.

First go the the book store of your college, you can order through the school and get some great deals. They usually have partnership with HP, Dell, Apple, etc.

Student Discounts from:

HP (http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/shopping_guide.do?template_type=guide&guide=student&tab=tab1)

Dell (http://www.delluniversity.com/)

Just in case your University doesn't have a discount program. :toast:
