ok so i have everything in i checked the heat sink several times before putting in the mobo because these rifle coolers are a pain to install, well i started it up and let it run for a while, today is the 3rd day, my idle temps were "fair" yesterday idleing at about 40c, well the first day was 45-46c and today again 45-46c, it seems high to me for 120mm rifle cooler, i wanted to overclock to 3.5 but if it stays this warm it wont happen, yesterday i had it at 3.49ghz and it was only running about 55c under a full load which i was pleased with, but now its running hot again, any suggestions?
im thinking about ordering the xigmatech mounting plate for this cooler see if that helps, since the cooler is so large i am wondering if it leans a little it may be causing a gap between the processor and base?

The backplate will help from what I have read, what TIM did you use?

im not sure i can get a good view of the mounting, maybe with my camera phone but quality would be poor, i used,
OCZ OCZTFRZTC Freeze Extreme Thermal
with the rice grain rule, but what im thinking of doing next time is maybe putting a little amount in every little valley between the pipes and the sink base, since there is a small indentation there

There are some pics of how I apply the thermal compound with my Xigmatek (courtesy of erocker). You might want to try the same next time.

ya thats exactly of what i was thinking about doing lol, too bad i didnt think of it when i was putting the rig together, looks like you used a credit card or something to flatten out the compound, then added a couple rice grains onto it?
