Hi, all you experts out there,
I need some help. Can somone tell me to get more performance out of my computer because I am Flightsimulator F9 enthusiast.
I have got the Asrock 939 Dual S-ATA2 with AMD 64 Venice 3.200+ @ 2600 Mhz running quite stable. Rams are 2 Infineon PC 3200 DDR 200, but unfortunately no kit, thus I have to enable “Felxibility Option” in Bios 1.50 which makes the divider “15” with the consequence that RAMs are only working at 173 MHz = 350 MHz instead of 400 MHz.Timings are 2-3-3-7-1T.
If I would buy a RAM-Kit like OCZ DDR PC 3.200 Dual Channel Gold VX would this help to get better performance? My present 3Dmark05-Score is at 4.980 in default mode.
Thanks in advance

well are the memory sticks you have now, standard Infineon? because they would not run at CL 2 most likely. Try CL3-4-4-8-2T and see if they run at 400MHz. If that is the case, try CL 3-3-3-7-2T. I have 4 infineon sticks, and that is what they will run at. CL2 is a very tight timing, and a normal infineon stick will not be able to handle that, same goes for 1T!
4900 Points are quite good, my brothers PowerColor X800 GT16 gets 4688 Points with a 3200+ running all stock.

as an example running my ram at 333 or running my ram at 400.. both 1T dual channel made a difference of exactly 19 points in 3Dmark2005.. this is with mid 6000 scores..
333 at 1T is about the same as 400 at 2T bandwidth wise..
19 points in 2005 translates to not even any noticable difference in any game..
basically even thow folks seem to think forking over double the money for super ram is worth it.. with the amd 64 chip it isnt.. just waste of money..
u dont seem to say how much ram u have.. if u want to spend money and only have 1 gig buy some more like two 1 gig sticks of oem type stuff.. nanya is quite good..
my sandra bandwidth scores useing oem nanya memory at just over 400mhz.. course a 1000 difference in sandra translates to that wonderfull 19 point difference in 2005..

Thanks Darksaber and Trog100 for your replies,
yes my two 512 MB Infineon are just the normal Rams and bought at different dates, thus they are not identical in all features. I thinks the reason for the slightly disappointing performance is, that I have to enable the "Flexibility Option" in the Asrock BIOS, which reduces the speed to 133 MHz giving this divider of 15 according to CPUZ.
Therefore my question is rather if I would buy better Rams (Kit) would it be possible to disable the "Flexibility Option" giving me possibly a lower divider of 12 which would let the Rams running with 216 MHz or 432 double rated.
Also I have read that some guys could get a higher FSB than 260 out of the AMD 64 Venice
3.200. Mine is blocking POST at 270 MHz and I can`t find out why even with longer timing of the Rams.

@biox
don't run your ram at such tight timings, CL2.5 is not going to work...
try these timings: 3-4-4-8-2T and then see if they both run!
did you try that? did your ram work at 200Mhz/400Mhz DDR? Let us know ;)
well not every venice can go that high...or you board may hold you back...260Mhz FSB is quite high already, my NewCastle will not go any higher than 245Mhz FSB...
cheers

with great difficulty.. he he
just looked at your cpu-z thingy.. i recon at those speeds your nanya memory will run cas 2.5 instead of cas 3.. not worth much but if all it takes is a bios button click and dont cost bugger all.. its worth doing..
