My BIOS is also on the VGA BIOS Collection, but I can't find it,
So re-uploaded.

I have tried RivaTuner v2.23, nothing happent and GPU-Z v0.3.2 can't detect Fan Speed as well as the GPU load.
This happent on my Asus EAH4670 too, but this MSI comes with 4pins while EAH4670 has only 2pins, so hope it helps.
Thank you.

I having troubles to getting your bios. Does the fan increase it speed when the card gets hoter ?

Nope, it's running at this speed with loud noise since BIOS
here's another download link

PS. Mouse-over "MSI_4850_OC.bin" and click it or click "Download"
Thank you.

What is your idle temp and stressed temp?

30~40c, never gets above of that cause of this fan speed, that's why I want to control it...

How fast does your fan run ? 100%? Does this happen under Windows or even before Windows ?

I can't check it, but with that speed and noise, I assume it's running full 100%
I can't even check GPU load.
the fan speed never change since boot up/BIOS

I guess your motherboard/bios is causing it or the fan controller is broken. Did you tried to flash the normal hd4850 bios in your card ?

Motherboard? hm...I tried it with Asus 4850 and the fan is adjustable
Broken? hm...I got this card yesterday from NewEgg, shouldn't came with broken card?
flash? what do you mean? get BIOS with GPUZ and load it into RBE?
Thank you.

with Flash do I mean to program your graphics card with another bios. You get a newer or the ATI HD4850 bios from this website.

Hm...doing some research to check if the fan becomes adjustable by flashing it with "better" bios.
Thanx alot.

Edit: I misunderstood how RBE works
Actually, I didn't flash BIOS using RBE yet, all I did is load my BIOS and setted temp and fan percentage.
I thought that's all so I didn't even Save BIOS.
I'll continue to do more research.
Sorry for the mistake.

I just want to save everyone time by letting you know that there is no fan control for this video card, MSI R4850 512M OC.
MSI tech support has confirmed it. I could not believe it, so I inspect the card myself. And I think they are not lying about it not having a fan controller.
If you look closely at the card, next to the fan plug, there are several ICs missing. Follow this link to see the picture of the one that has them:
http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=84000
Now here is the good new: you can still control it
1. Buy a fan controller on ebay, it cost about $3. No worry about the 3 pin connector, it works fine with the 4 pin
black = black = ground
red = yellow = power
yellow = green = sensor
nothing = blue = PWM
2. You can just connect the fan directly to a free 3 pin fan controller on the motherboard. I have the Asus P5Q Pro and looks like I can controll it through asus software. Get a 3 pin cable extension on ebay for $1.29 since the cable came with the card is really short.
I hope this help. Cheers!

1. Do you mind to tell me which 3$ fan controller you found on eBay?
cause I don't think a cheap fan controller comes with an option which change fan speed based on videocard temp.
2. This extension looks not bad

Now just hope that my Asus software give the temp-change-fan-change control.

NiGHTsC:
Here is the fan controller I talked about:
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-3-Pin-CPU-Fan-Cooler-Speed-Controller-for-PC_W0QQitemZ160318370030QQihZ006QQcategoryZ3673QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
It look almost identical to the Fanmate 2 made by Zalman.
The 3 pin extension is exactly what I ordered :)
Now the bad news is I don't think these methods will allow you to controll the temp base on the GPU's temp. The $3 fan controller has a knob that you can turn to ajust the fan speed.
The 3 pin controller on the Asus board is a chasis fan controller. It can only change accoring to CPU's temp, not GPU's temp. However, Asus software has option for you to set it fixed at certain speed. You just have to experiment with it and set it at the speed that best compromises between temp and noise.
It takes 2 weeks for that stupid extension to get here from HongKong, sucks, lol

Heh, thanx.
Yah, that's really a bad news, but expected...
anyway, it's always better than nothing, the 100% fan speed is just too annoying...
HK shipping shouldn't takes that long, but it's alright as long it's cheap and free shipping.
Thanx again :D
