IF possible I would overclock my alarm clock, for no other reason then to say I did it, although people would ask why I keep a clock that is so fast...
So for the UBER OC'ers out there, and math geeks, you can finally OC your Texas Instrument TI-81 to the TI-96.
Thats right increase your TI-81 from a 6Mhz cpu to a massive 18Mhz. Crunch out the Quadratic Equation in 1/3rd the time!!

Hahaha..
Im going to try this on my old TI-85. Just for kicks.

Hmmm, yeah I just noticed that. Wonder what is so different about the 84. I have in a box a 83,84 and a 85. Havent used the 83/84 since highschool and the 85 since college.

My Ti-84 has hardly been used since Sixth form, its a bit overkill for the calcs I do at Uni.
What was great was that you could load up the games when you had finished an exam and they were none the wiser!

Yup. Not only that, but what a cheat machine. I remember jocks in my organic chem and physics class would spend hours before class inputing in all the different equations and anwsers that they could cram into memory. Eventually the teachers wised up....lol

I heard about this when i was back in uni. Man it would have been useful, those graphical calculators can really slow down when you use a big program on them. Mine GC was a little too expensive to be opening up and soldering shit in there tho (used it for my AstroPhys course)

Those were fiddily little jumpers in a case that was just a tangle of wires. That was also my first overclock. I loved the 486, it had some excellent games, Myst, Wolfenstein, Doom, the graphics were soo much better than my megadrive.

Have you all seen the mod to OC your sony PSP? Looks cool stock is 222Mhz, this mod makes it run at 333Mhz.

My GP2X is like a PSP, I actually OC'd my GP2X way back when, but soon decided I wanted more battery life!

That PSP thing is old, I did that with the custom firmware, it runs at 333MHz but Sony had it at 222MHz, apparently they removed the restriction with newer firmware.

Mar 19, 2009, 03:56 PM
Yeah I knew it was old news..just wondering if anyone had done it. Looks like you did. Did it work as expected?
So you're saying that it comes at 333Mhz now? Or you have the ability to change it without all the hassle?
DaveK
Mar 19, 2009, 03:57 PM
Didn't really notice any difference. Well apparently Sony upped the clock to 333MHz in official firmware beforehand you needed custom firmware but it's easy to change.
