I'm hoping to be able to crossfire, but it's not that important as it'll cost me money to get another 4830. SO! Aside from that, which board is superior in terms of overclocking and stability? It looks to me as if the Gigabyte will run slower when paired with an AM2+ CPU since the data xfer rate drops to 2000MHz.
The Gigabyte boards state that it'll drop to HT1.0 when used with an AM2+ CPU, but it has a PCI-E 1.1 slot to crossfire. The ASUS doesn't state that the data xfer rate will drop when used with an AM2+ CPU... so yeah I'm lost. Anyone have input?

Neither board is good for overclocking. 4 pin cpu motherboard connectors, cheap components, insufficient cooling.

I'm not talking about extreme OC'ing, just like bumping my 5600 to 3.2 or 3.4. I'm assuming that much is possible right? :D

u wont reach much more than 3. maybe 3.1 on these boards as the brisbane oc like shit.
both boards arent good for oc but if those are ur choices, go for the asus.

That's fine with me, I just want the joy of clocking up my proc. I'll switch to an AM2+ quad sometime along the road.

Why in the world are you choosing between these two boards? Also if you did crossfire on the gigabyte one it would be severely bottle necked by the 4x slot and your CPU.

I'm on quite a tight budget, trying to go around skimping on everything I can. ^_^

Either of these I'd say, Biostars are usually good at overclocking even with their cheap boards, I'm not to sure about the asus but it is a solid board itself.

Or this, I haven't had a problem with open box products on newegg, sometimes I get brand new sealed in retail box items, only once have I actually gotten an OEM with the product itself and no cables but none the less it works just the same.

I would say either one of these boards

I would choose Gigabyte for just a few bucks extra.

The board he is wanting to buy has supported a Phenom II X4 920 @ 3.1Ghz 100% stable. If you want proof... I will have it here in a few.. I will edit this post.
-on the topic of Crossfire being bottlenecked at 4x... I would have to answer yes. However, if both ribbons are used, the effect could be placed at a very low end of the spectrum.
Imho, go with whatever board you feel comfortable worth spending the $$ on

I'm just lost, I recently bought a Xiggy 1283, waiting for the NZXT Beta to be released on Amazon, then need an inexpensive overclockable board to OC. Maybe I shouldn't worry about the board for now, but I will keep every board listed in this thread saved in a notepad doc for future references.
Thanks guys.
