with the SR20000G you can be wired and wireless for setup.... the initial setup has to be done with the wired connection, as it has to give it a DHCP IP to configure. it relies on the router or access point that you are extending for that after the setup. When the SR20G would loose connectivity with the R10 I couldn't get an IP address from the extender. I purposely did screwed up a few times for the review to see how good it is at fixing itself and it was pretty easy to get stuff back to normal. It actually was able to operate on 20Mhz mode while the router was in 40Mhz mode as well.
Its doing great. the only real downside so far is that i need to be on a wireless device to get into the setup, Not sure if you can turn that off. I use wireless with my laptops, tablets & mobile phones but im using my pc 99% of the time and thats connected via cable as i game.
well It does certainly feel more 'smooth' when browsing the net, streaming and doing a little gaming. Its definitely better then my previous extender but its no holy grail the amount of options you can set in it are crazy
Glad you got it up and running... try using non-congested channels.... to find those use InSSIDer or the amped wifi tool on android (sadly no ios or winphone version)
got the little thing up and running, its working OK so far, sadly not much difference then my edimax unit when streaming videos & surfing, gonna load up a game of BF3 in a moment and see if it holds. if not I have just wasted my money
