Threads dont have an expiration date. As the thread gets older it just falls into the fold to be used as reference, or for late adopters to refresh with new questions. Threads get closed because they are way off topic, or the topic/candor of the thread warrants it to be closed.

how long the thread will last before it closed? Is that automatically or by request
