Advice needed on CPU cooler...

Hi

Could you guys please help me select a CPU cooler?

I live in south Africa so we have limited options.

Please have a look at this site : http://www.sybaritic.co.za/store/index.php?cPath=323_182_327&sort=3a&page=1 and tell me which one would be best? I'm looking to spend about R400-450.

I'm using an ATX case with an Asus P5k SE/EPU mATX mobo and an E7200. Space shouldn't be a problem, but I don't want anything to heavy.

This will be my first aftermarket CPU cooler and I'll be upgrading from the stock intel cooler(yes the very small one)

Ambient would be +- 30C. Also, fan noise isn't really a problem if that were to happen.

Any info is welcome :toast:

That's out of his listed price range, although if the OP could come up with the bucks that's by far his best option.

I'd go with MRCL's as well within the specified limits.

Reviews say "meh" on that one.

If you can stretch a couple R and have a fan handy, this may be an option. It can run with all the big boys at a discounted price.

I have this cooler, very pleased with it. CPU is at 25c idle (ambient approx 20c), cores between 28-34c. Comes in nicely within your budget too.

Didn't look through every link, proves that great minds think alike, LOL. Its very quiet too, even on full speed its bareable. PWM controlled too, set it and forget it....

I'd go with the Zalman 9500 the other guys recommended. I have the Intel version of that cooler on an old P4 Prescott PC. CPU temps are 27c at idle and never even approach 40 no matter what I do. (I've even played games while running Prime95 at the same time).

JBravo - just remember that that cooler is OEM and you have to buy the clip for S775, its R31

It would suck to get it home and realise you had no mounting hardware. :banghead:

At least one of the 9500's is not OEM, if I'm not mistaken. It goes for around 520 in the same page as others. No LED version though.

EDIT: HUH! For get about that. I thought it was only R20 more. I thought others were ~R490. :banghead:

The Zalman is pretty good, but don't forget the mounting adapter for Intel.

Another very good option is the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro:
