If you just use them for read access then you'll be chill, but otherwise yes there is stuttering writes.

There is a to memory write controller that is on the cheap end in these SSD. Good SSD are like $800+ and they don't have write problems. You get the cheapos and use them for specific purposes. Even with the expensive ones they're mostly made for access time and not write time.

the problem is that if too many writes occur at once, the drive literally locks for upto 500ms. so the PC appears to be stuttering. the fix (as indicated in the newegg comments from OCZ) involves moving contsant writes to other hard drives... which negates the point for me, as i want one of these in my media PC.

Just adding to your post not debating it Mussels ....

If you have a high amount of physical ram (4GB+) you can disable prefetching and page files, would help smooth out the problem, won't totally get rid of them.

yep. the OCZ forum has quite a few suggestions on how to eliminate/reduce the stutter. best to look there before buying, even at this price.

Well that sucks, its not just Read Times for the fast drives but also Write. I dont see what specific purpose this would have unless they just want you to install all your games for 8 hours, then just use this drive for gaming....not OS or anything else.

SSD tech is not mature enough or inexpensive enough for the average user to afford, IMHO.
