Following a fresh onslaught of Killzone 2 updates this month, PSU has decided to mark the occasion by showing off some of the visual differences and upgrades Guerrilla Games has applied to the hotly anticipated FPS over the past 18 months.

The screenshot comparison we are providing is comparing the E3 2007 trailer to the December 08 preview code released to the media last week.

After taking a glance at the shots below, one of the most conspicuous features you should notice is the upgraded character models. In the Dec. 08 version, facial textures have been noticeably improved along with some characters featuring completely different gear and weapon load outs. In addition, Guerrilla Games has made a number of improvements including enhanced motion blur and lighting effects, with colors and shadows appearing much darker.

It's also worth baring in mind that the December preview code is in fact an Alpha build of the game, which, according to recent reports, has already received some significant polishing over at Guerrilla HQ. With two months left to go until the game is released, we're expecting nothing short of perfection for the final product.

Same here, it just keeps looking better and better and better. 2009 GOTY material, if not Uncharted 2.

As far as the graphics go, it got worst from 07-08, but im sure the gameplay will hold up and replace all that.

Also, does anyone else thing that there overusing Blur WAY to much in this game, i mean wow.

They look ok, still seen better.

As for motion blur, its going to be used in F.E.A.R 2O so i dont mind.

i think u better sell ur xbox and buy another PS3 cause 2009 man damn its going to be hot for the ps3 owners... but if u don't have problems just wait for Gears 3 and forget about killzone 2, heavy rein, uncharted 2 and GT5... its a friend advise

?, i had a PS3 before i don't prefer one system over the other. But it is a fact that there are games that look better then KZ2. Not saying KZ2 looks bad.

Don't assume its always Crysis, there are games other then Crysis that still look better. As said, i am not saying it looks bad, but its definitely not the best i have seen, whether it be PC or Consoles.

I assume it because in my opinion, there isn't a better looking game on the consoles. The best looking console game out right now is Gears of War 2 (which is debatable when put side by side to MGS4), Killzone looks better than that.

In terms of artistic style, you have games like Team Fortress 2 on PC which look really really good in their own right, but it's a different art genre all together.

To each man his own, but I'm calling out personal bias.

P.S.; BTW, I do assume it's Crysis because Crysis obviously has the best graphics, on any platform, anywhere.

I agree with most that. As for best looking Console game, its a matter of opinion.

I am not bias, as i have not put forth favor over a system.

They look good. But I think GoW2 look better. And they seem to have picked up some of the grittiness from gears. The character models look spectacular though. I am definitely glad I have both a 360 and PS3. I get the best of both worlds

As you said, it's debatable, i've played MGS4, Gears of War 2, and i'd say Uncharted is the best looking of the lot.

I can agree with that, Uncharted looks extremely good. So does Uncharted 2. Furthermore, God of War 3 looks extremely good too.
