msi
xfx
gigabyte
asus

After months of dicking around I am going to get a gtx 260. The last few cards I had were all evga, is any one really any better?

This is what I am looking at:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130400

If I spend another say $20-$50 is it really going make a difference.

Double lifetime warrantee.. Il be 200 before it expires:toast:

I had nothing but trouble with EVGA (just ask tw3akm@ster) They have been the only company to not fix a problem (or even try) that I had on a GPU
(hell those jerks didnt even bother to respond to several emails, bad, Mike Klingelberg, bad)

Asus returned emails but never fixed the prob.(idiots made 9800GT cards with tri sli slots that were just for looks)

MSI so so customer service (good products)

BFG no probs (so far, lol)

Gigabyte, quality control probs (at least they tried to remedy the issue)

ECS (no customer service, BUT freekin AWESOME passive cooled 9600GTs)

I have to say my best experience has been with EVGA, which is the brand of my GTX260 (both the 192sp and the stepped-up to Core 216). Customer service was easy to deal with, knowlegable and didn't feed me a bunch of pre-typed bs.

Thanks everyone, now I will just have to find some one who wants the Far Cry that comes with it...
Ill take the FAR CRY2.. i really want to get the game, but you know how it is this time of year.. all the extra cash has been going to Xmas presents for the boys and other family members. Just PM ME when you get it in and we'll go from there. Just dont install it, i heard it only allows 5 installs, or sumthin like that.

Isn't BFG and XFX the same company? When I use NVIDIA I tend to go with BFG or XFX, I have heard good things about EVGA, and they're step-up program is a added extra.

But in my time I have never had any problems with any of the BFG or XFX cards ive used in the past. Im actually waiting on a RMA 4850 and using a BFGTech GeForce 9800 GT OC edition and so far I have been able to OC this thing on air pretty good without any issues so far and comparing the performance to the Sapphire 4850 i RMA'd it has beat all my previous 3DMark scores in 03 05 06 (but thats only because of the OC i have on the card) But at stock settings the card is just behind the 4850. I noticed that the 4800 series cards are really tricky to OC these days. I remember my old 9800XT(bought it when HL2 came out) that card would OC like a mofo and put out some serious FPS, hell for an older AGP card its still a pretty good card. Sorry for rambling .. lols

I need to mention this, Galaxy while not a popular brand is pretty decent. Before I had did a switch out to ATi (coming from nVidia card string of 8 years), I wouldn't use anything but eVGA.

asking which is the best will always give you a variety of responses based on personal experiences and "fanboyism" (not that i'm accusing anyone preceeding me of being a fanboy to any particular brand). so at best you can go with what people are saying or do your own research into the company. the company's reputation is also important: track record, returns policy, fault policy that kind of thing.

+1 but i would add Gigabyte to the honorable mention also Asus :toast:

I disagree, but then again that's my opinion. Truthfully, If you think about it.. one time or another each and every company makes that one card that just plain out sux. I think it depends on what chip manufacturer they are using i.e. maybe ASUS and gigabyte are not so good nividia cards, but ASUS makes some damn good 4800 series cards right now IMO...

Asus did/has made some good nvidia cards but not sure about how they are now with Nvidia. But Gigabyte makes good ATI and nvidia cards they just make alot of different models
so i agree and disagree with you

some make there own PCB design and change different parts of the board(voltage regulation etc) so sometimes they make a difference. I think alot of XFX is non reference so that could be why they clock better or maybe you have just had good luck. Something else i forgot some brands give more voltage
example
brand 1 GPU 1.05v
brand 2 GPU 1.1v
that is just an example not sure about accual voltage of what company's do that
