Mass Effect or The Witcher Enhanced Edition

OK, I'm going to take advantage of the Steam holiday sale, and buy one of these two games. I like role playing games, but I've only played a handful in the last few years. Which one should I buy and why?

that depends on your taste of RPG games. if you like more traditional fantasy RPGs then The Witcher is for you, though with a more adult slant with ripe language and "sex." there's a demo around for the vanilla edition play it and find out for yourself. i found it (the demo) quite enjoyable, took me a lot longer than the stated 2 hours to get through. Mass Effect i've not played but i can only repeat what i know from reading about it. if you like non-traditional (i.e. sci fi) RPGs then this is for you. it's made from Bioware which are the foremost leaders in the new wave of RPGs; they made the Baldur's Gate series, the KotOR series (including the new MMO The Old Republic) and Jade Empire which was a non traditional Chinese-style RPG.

i own both games you mention ,but haven't got round to unwrapping and enjoying them yet. the choice is purely yours

Man, I love them both! Mass Effect is a little more epic though. Go with that.

To really do Mass Effect, you gotta go threw it with each class that you can become. If not, then it feels so wrong in leaving.. Then, with that tone, there is also different ways to beat the game due to what you do in game. Do you believe Wraith? Or not? Or, do you save the girl you just met? or the guy serving right under you?

It's a endless game to say the lease. It took me about 40 hours the two times I played threw before some unforseen thing happened to the disc..

As. for Witcher, It's a good game all around. But, after awhile your, to me, just there...

Enjoyied them both but have to be Witcher bigger game i thought and better story too. The witcher is more about game play than graphics.

I had major issues with The Witcher. Firstly, the story just dumps you in with NOTHING to go by. Second, I hate the combat modes. I have never been one to enjoy having to perfectly time my attacks just to win a battle.

Mass effect is made by Bioware. Expect small environments, but excellent gameplay. I have played all of thier recent games with that format except Mass Effect, but I can tell you that I loved all of them.

With Witcher you get about a dozen + in bed

. Not as if you see much but still.

BTW there a blood patch for the game puts the blood back in to US release and is a must for sure.

So is The Witcher in a sense as it runs on there old game engine.

I should say that I had the original version of the Witcher, but found it too buggy. I'm wondering how much better the enhanced version is. Anyone play both versions?

I haven't played Witcher because of the fact that to me it was a publicity stunt style game.. Spent tons to show how this is different, or better, but lacked in it.. But, that is myself on the fact.

Get the Enenched Edition patch for it then and get Mass effect. BTW the patch is free.

I owned and sold a free copy of it that came with one of my gpu's. It didn't come with the info needed to register it and install the patches, so I sold it.

I can't compare both games since I don't have Mass Effect yet, but I had bought The Witcher and I played for 20 minutes and never played again so far, for exactly the same reasons JC316 mentions.

Bugger. Shame me and my wife had a blast with it. We both thought the story was great and had no issue's running and no crashes and the path finding was sweet in it too.

Only real thing that bugged me was the camera as it followed but get used too it then really started to enjoy it.

In all the God of War games, you have a mini game where you do women. You have to do a sequence of key strokes in order to get it done..

As for fable... I really don't about the hooker thing. I've never done it, just have had a close friend tell me he's done it for kicks... lol..

Take Mass Effects, beautiful graphics.
I like it, and the cover is actually worked, DUCK!
And I like the voice actresses... She sounds really sexy... That's just my opinion, different people have different taste....

Good luck with Mass effect

Mass effect is widely known for being made like crap..
It's a great game.. if you can get it to work..
particularly nvidia owners..

I spent days trying to make that game work and my system is not shabby by any means..
Game causes BSOD's.. and crashes that just shut you down.. period..
crashes that happen for no apparent reason..
your memory consumption won't be bad.. your cpu load and gpu temps may be fine..

and you will still crash..
I wouldn't buy this game if I was you until they fix it..
I tried so many things to make it work it's not even funny..
and after days of trying.. all I got was a permanently glitchy system from uninstalling and reinstalling different drivers, using driver sweeper and what not..
great game.. if it worked.. but it pretty much doesn't..
Unless you don't mind crashing every 10-30 minutes, I'd buy something else..

FYI about the enhanced witchers addition..
It's nothing special in my book..
after I beat the initial game.. i dropped it..
Enhanced graphics are nice.. but nothing extraordinary.
It's worth getting for that reason alone.. and it's free..
the extra quest just seemed like a run-on to me.
but hey you might like that kind of stuff.
I had my fill..

All i can say Paulieg is that when we completed the game it was a sad moment as we knew nothing was going come close to it.

In the end it's what your mainly into... Just that i am so glad we played though The Witcher and it was loads of fun.
