7950gx2 Vs 8800gts 512@9800gtx

well i just got a hold of a 7950GX2 and i think that i should clock it up and compare it to one of the newer GPU's for a side by side comparo.

now to make things 100% fair i'm going to leave the 8800GTS in while i test the 7950GX2 as to enable physx on both cards...

Im very, very interested to see. Most sites believe that the 7950GX2 doesnt even match the 8800GT, I believe this is bullshit, because the GX2 was tested with old, poor drivers. Hurry up!

for dx 9 game benchmark cod4, oblivion, crysis dx9, or fallout 3. I always wondered how powerful or fast a 7950GX2 and if it made a difference using vista over xp with it.

I know i've had my 7950gx2 with ( Spacer Kit) while I owned a 88gts (g80) and a 2900xt, Gaming wise It really couldnt keep up.

Also my 3d06 scores where about 3K less than those two cards. I'm sure if I wouldve V-modded it and clocked it like hell It wouldve closed the gap.

My rig was X2 @ 3.1, 4GB of ddr2 800OCZ on Vista 32 BTW.

just because unreal tournament, quake, and all other ID games are the generic DM FPS doesn't necessarily mean it reserves a right to be benchmarked. Another requirement should be that it is worth playing :laugh:

Somebody should lend me an AGP 775 board. Clock up some Voodoo action and older Geforce action. Make my 6800GT, 7800GS, and some others run against each other with some serious horse power behind them (e8400)

haha i'm running a 7800GTX in my rig and probly will for a while now. I used to have an 8800GT, there's a big difference. Most games ran 1680x1050 max, now it's 1280x1024 med-high. :*(

I definately would like to see older cards with new drivers, primarily after this:
Just got my x800GTO, with a zalmon cooler and heat spreaders on the ram, overclocked to 590//1180(400/980 defaults). I put this in my HTPC hoping that it would play guitar hero III on lowest settings. Turned out that it maxed it out, 1024x768 with 8xAA. I think(know) that the change in drivers makes a huge difference on historical cards.
that, and it was 60FPS, only limited by whatever limitation aspyr held (built in vsync, FPS limit w/e)

Haha , I cant wait to get my rig up so I can see what this 6800Ultra can do, I lusted after this card when it came out but could only afford a 6600gt. I'm clock these 1.6ns chips til they burn up.
