Ie 8?

Does anyone know when IE 8 is going to be finally released? I want it but I dont want the Beta.

only Microsoft knows that, they are still in Beta 2, they have yet to release a RC, beyond that MS needs to kill off Active X altogether otherwise they are just shooting themselves in the foot on security.

Thanks man Just wondering. It looks really cool and I like the features but I dont want to install the Beta at all just in case.

I see your stationed in Florida are you in the Navy or something?

Microsoft's BETA stuff is generally more stable than retail I've found lol.

I've been using IE8 BETA since the first one, never had any issues. I believe they are looking to release IE8 when Vista SP2 is released.

Honestly, I'm not sure, they keep giving us mixed messages. They've said before Windows 7, they've said after Windows 7, they said Q1 this year, then changed their mind to Q2.

I've used the IE8 beta, and it its perfectly stable... Either way, I would never actually use it since Firefox is so much better, and no matter how Microsoft tries, they won't be able to actually beat any decent modern browser on functionality...

Thanks for being honest should i download the beta? What risks are in it , is it really different than IE 7 and what happens if I want to go back to IE 7?

Also to answer your question, when you install beta software, there is no guarantee it will fully restore your previous version when you remove the beta, hence why its called a beta (for testers that send in input to MS to improve on the product)

I personally would download the beta. There are no risks that I've seen so far, and if you want to go back to IE7 (you won't) you just uninstall IE8.

And yes, it's different to IE7, it has a different rendering engine that is more in-line with the web standards than IE's borked way of rendering, but there's also a "compatibility view" button next to the address bar if pages render wrong

I dont use FireFox that much I have it but I use IE 7 way more. Never liked that I need all the plugins and they update all the time.

It's my main browser and I love it, but I use IE8 as well.

I dont know anything about it and I dont really need 3 browsers on my pc. When I really use only 1 and the other just once in a while.

If your making a jump from IE to 3rd party browsers, why Opera?

IMHO there's a reason why its marketshare is less than 1%...

If we were still in 2004 you'd be correct, but it's now at over 3%.

However, if you read any security guides anywhere you'll see that Opera is the most secure windows browser out there. It's also much lighter on resources, has a lot of features built-in that FF requires plug-ins to do. The user-interface is better and a lot more customisable.

Opera is a better browser, unfortunately FF is like Mac, too many sheep

Yup, I had to at one point because they released a minor update to BETA1 that broke it lol.

Vista Ultimate X64 SP1 here

It won't do a thing, worst that will happen is you uninstall and you have to reinstall IE7 from Microsoft's website.
