To tell the truth if you go water. I'd never tell someone to grab a full card solution. The full card solution can heat up the card more then it does cool it down.. Dadi oh's uni is the best way to go...

@Binge.. Dude, I'm just crazy like that to just "throw" something in the case.. lol

Ever consider this?

http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=73494

The unisink does great cooling the power and memory. You don't need water on them.

I'll look into this as well.

Well I'd like to stay under 70c max while folding, will the hr-03 gtx do it? I'd have to pull my pci-e tuner card and 8800gs to do it I think.... Is this thing worth 140can(I'm including a Delta 220cfm fan)? I can't fold at the temps my card is at.

Lower your clocks and raise your shaders, those 8800GS cards can do that unlike the gtx 2xx series. I ran my card with a 650MHZ on the core with like 19something on the shaders. I think 1939.

To tell the truth if you go water. I'd never tell someone to grab a full card solution. The full card solution can heat up the card more then it does cool it down.. Dadi oh's uni is the best way to go...

@Binge.. Dude, I'm just crazy like that to just "throw" something in the case.. lol

Interesting, is that because the core runs hotter then the memory? or how does that happen.

When using a full card solution, it's having to do just that. Cool the full card. So, ram, and chip. But, in all, the ram doesn't really need to be water cooled. They give you a nice set up ram sink that works quite well. It's a upgrade in all from the stock cooling.

you usually have to change your 216s to 1.8v from 1.5v. Enjoy!

there is no option for 1.8v the highest in the bios is 1.15v and on several web sites they list the 216 is limited to 1.15v is there away to get around that limit to hit 1.8v

I have the option for 1.18V on my 192SP 260 but if I set it then I get some overvoltage or overcurrent protection kicking in (black screen when it enters 3D mode). Requires a power reset to get it back. I have to settle for 1.12V on mine even though I watercool :ohwell:

Does anyone why i am having conflicting driver issues between certain older games and my gtx 280. I never had the same amount of issues with my old 8800 gt. Anyone know what the most stable drivers for the 280 series card.

The issues i have cause windows and whatever game i have up to lock up and hard lock the system. Reboot is the only fix to this issue.

Well, no air cooling for this card, the hr-03 gtx makes it a 3 slot+ solution after the fan is added. Too bad! Well, I guess $500 for wc some day then.......

My new baby is finally here! Was £218/229€/$305 (pound has gone up since the order)

While waiting for the card to come I made this "8pin adapter" on the left. Right is molex to 6pin adapter that it's made of. Plugs to the last pins as my PSU only has 2x6pin. Oh and that inside box is sexy, much better than the outside one :) Had 2 smaller black boxed with gold asus text inside. Sorry bad quality, low light.

There she is, loving the girl, not so much the camouflage, but doesn't really show out of case. Below old 9800GTX+ with Accelero Twin Turbo and some 6800LE age ramsinks on VRM.

Purrrrig. Had to swap 6pin wires, 3DMark06 was not stable if PCI-E2 was in the 8pin slot. Vantage and FurMark ran fine now 06 runs too (without shutdown).

not aswell as the 260 gtx 192 they act alot like a 280 gtx and at 700 core/1500/1200 mem still fast as heck. The extra shaders make them less stable and the bios limits you to 1.15v. The extra shaders really heat this card up. This should change as EVGA release a voltage tool. After I sold the game and a rebate got mine for 234.00 shipped. It ended up being the cheapest card after that. I really wanted this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150334 . It would be about 304.00 after I sold the game. I just couldn't justify the near 100.00 difference. I'm getting well over a 100 frames per second in just about every game I own at max settings, but I just want a 285 GTX. If I ebayed the black edition 260gtx I could easily get 265.00 shipped for it, because it has a the cool black edition name and double lifetime warranty. Most people find that very attractive. I'm torn between want and need LOL!!!

Even though I am very happy with the performance of these 2 Palit 1GB Sonics in crossfire I still fancy me either a 4870x2 or a 295  I spose on the positive side, I remain very happy with the Q9650 although I might upgarde in a while to good ol AMD when the AM3 boards and P2 chips arrrive..... just for a bit of fun.

Apologies for thread hijacking, I'll stop now!

LOL yeah, I didnt realize how I wrote that, it was pretty late last night. I was going for this  since it was a first attempt with pretty much bone stock settings on everything. I'm going to try again with a higher clock after work and also see if the 8400GS i bought for a standalone PhysX card will make any difference.

Although that being said, my CPU score with the stock Q9550 is pretty darn good..

Well, here is Physx and a 280 in a nut shell.. If you have the 2xx series cards, you don't need a physx card. I was running my 8400gs and there wasn't anything I saw as a performance gain from it.. If you have a 8800gt and 8400gs you'll see a difference.. But not with anything above a 9xxx series card. Anything after the 8xxx series Nvidia cards have it built for physx rendering. Even if the card is straight for Physx only, there won't be a change.

But, your right. For a Q9550... that is pretty sweet! :rockout:
