Yeah thats a little better than the 9800GX2 for less scratch. But if his board supported crossfire he could just grab another 4870 and do the same thing with more frames right?

Yes Sir

very good deal there but don't have a warranty , here is the important part Should these items prove defective following their purchase, the buyer (not the manufacturer, distributor, or Newegg.com) assumes the entire cost of all necessary servicing or repairs, unless otherwise required by law.

I have RMA'd open box items with ASUS, EVGA, and Foxconn. They didn't ask and I just simply said I bought it on Newegg and thats good enough for them. :toast:

I would assume that works everywhere because most RMA's tell you to just send the item and not the box of accessories or retail box in for service.

Yeah, I am afraid the gtx 260 216 core is his best bet. :ohwell:

Sorry we couldn't find another gtx 280 for cheap.

Looks like a good card but I haven't bought from ewiz before.;)

They have been around for a while though.

I've bought from them before, including a couple of sets of kick ass Super Talent ram. :)

I think I have to agree with Bta. Two 4830's in CrossFire with that M4A79 and Phenom II is too good. :)

I ended up going with a cheap crossfire setup. I was going to go with 2 4830's, until I found this open box deal. I bought 2. I don't think theres a better deal, and open box does not really concern me. Not bad for $218, considering a 4850x2 is $270-290.

What about running dual monitors with a crossfire setup? Is that possible these days? I looked into crossfire a few months back and that was something I read about. At the time, both SLI and crossfire didn't support dual monitors...

The last I have hear the answer is No. At least not while Crossfire is enabled. I have dual monitors but if you enable for like gaming it drops the second monitor. I hear SLI is the same way. :shadedshu

I have a p5w dh deluxe, and at the time I bought it, I figured I'd get a second ati card since it supported crossfire. Turns out I bought a second monitor before the second video card, and that became far more addictive then a few extra frames in a video game.

The last I checked on it was back when the 4850 had first come out. I'm thinking of selling the p5w dh deluxe and getting a single card motherboard.

What exactly is the holdup with crossfire / sli and dual monitors?

and the drivers are supported better, those will be fast as hell.:toast: They should fold well, but I'm not a expert on that. Warning from a guy who had two 4850's in crossfire your case will be the hottest it has ever been get ready.

Not to flame or anything, but since when does a crossfire of 4830's beat a 280? Seems a bit outlandish to me, considering 280 beats a 4850x2 in several situations? I'm not a pro on these things, so please do correct me if I am wrong ;)

Anyway, I'm sure that the crossfire 4850's was a great deal :)

since they came out.

http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=16300&page=6&search=confir

they don't beat the 280 in everything, but more often than not supposedly.. You'd have to deal with crossfire scaling though.

id like to see some more games tested though, with newer drivers too.

LOL. Don't think my wife and kids will accept a new video card as a worthwhile excuse to have to eat Ramen.

well how about soup and sandwiches? I know I couldn't get pass with the noodles either with my family. My husband had enough of it being deployed ;)

GTX would be my next choice if ya didn't want those good luck
