buying the original NES?

Thinking about buying the original NES

As the title states. I am thinking about buying the original Nintendo. Like a dumbass, I sold mine years ago to then Funcoland. Didnt know better at the time. :shadedshu

Debating if that price is actually worth it given what he "does" to it.

I have the money, just wondering if its worth it like I said. I really want to relive my past with a few of the old games.

Well, he's not had a single bad piece of feedback. He offers 1 year warranty. I think you'd be safe dealing with him (well, as safe as you can be on ebay).

The price, in collectors terms, is decent, but I'd never pay that money for a console that old.

If you are just looking to buy it to play the old games, why not look at one of the many clone systems out there? They are much cheaper than an original NES, and get the job done.

I was gonna say emulators too, as I have done it. But the experience is not there. Playing Bubble Bobble on your laptop isn't nearly as good as on a tv.

He is a great seller, so if you really want it, go for it. I am still pissed I traded mine in to Toys R' Us for a couple of Us-Bucks so I could put them to an SNES game..what a dummy :shadedshu

I had one with adapter for 4 gamepads that was awesome. I was giving it to the friends it was circulating until I lost track.

I bought a system off Ebay that is a dual system it plays Snes&nes I just can't think of the name, anywise look them up, I got mine for $40.00 or 50.00.

Why not get a Wii and a classic controller? You can get NES, SNES, Genesis, Master CD, and N64 games for virtual console. NES games go for $5 a pop.

i remember funcoland, I have a nintendo and a super nintendo in my house somewhere but i haven't seen them in years, I wonder if my super metroid cartridge is still in there lol

I have a store next to my house that sell stuff for older consoles, thats the only place i could find and av cord for my dreamcast

I actually prefer one of the larger modern controllers over the original NES controller, the original NES controller is way to small for my hands.

Opps, for NES you don't need the classic controller. You just turn the Wii Remote sideways for NES games.


If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't spend $100 on a NES console. There's no telling how long it will last and finding anything that's missing and/or games is mostly wishful thinking. The NES hasn't been around for twenty years--it's an antique.

Personally, I'd be saving up for a Wii or the Wii's successor and play the games I'm dying to play on an emulator in the time being. If you really want that old console feel, use an S-Video cable on a CRT screen.

Eh, 98 bucks, do it. Think of it as a nice break from spending money on computer components, which sometimes in the end, doen't even give you a worthy performance increase, for the amount of money spent.

This might be a nice 'step back.'


Though, I'd buy from someone else if it was an option. That guy's Ebay lingo and exaggerated advertising and competition slandering is annoying.


However, if he was selling a Power Glove with it...I might be interested too
