X58 boards an different?

Are the x58 boards basically all the same?

I can still take my p6t deluxe back and i am considering getting the DFI x58 or the p6t ws pro instead.

So is any better than the others?

I see you have the Core i7 920, most boards dan do 4.2GHz just fine, the limit for OC is at QPI link speed reaching its limit after 200+ baseclock.

If you're not going Tri-SLI anytime soon, you don't need the WS board.

I say keep the board, because, i mean why do you want to change board?

its ALL in the board on X58.

nothing else really has to be that great. of course im talking OCing wise.

DFI's x58's are the best clocking ATM IMHO.

well the bios option for the p6t dlx made me bsod about 10 times that kinda pissed me off. its pretty stable now though

I have to agree with fit here, except I'd say the same with any chipset. The board and the PSU are the biggest keys.

Micro center says they charge 15% but i can say the board's bios was bad and its unusable lol

I top out about 205 base clock on my cheap($199) gigabyte UD3R

My DFI X38 was awesome, so i can vouch for DFI

The most important feature of any x58 board is the power management of the CPU. Hands down it makes or breaks your chip. You could have a motherboard that's holding your chip back from even a marginal OC. This is holding you back by forcing you to volt far beyond what you need in order to achieve your desired clock. Why put up with that? So brand awareness here is pretty important if you intend to do anything above Intel spec. EVGA, Gigabyte, Foxconn, and DFI have the best power management. On the other hand MSI/ASUS/etc have power management ranging from OK to pitiable.

All I see are the JR, Dark(DK) and Ultimate(UT). I would go for the Dark, the ultimate's usually just have extra stuff bundled in and better cooling.

So far, with the updated bios, the DK has been awesome. Very little vdroop, and overclocks quite well.

Didn't you have a Rampage 2 Extreme? Why get the DFI? The R2E is the best board today for Core i7.

the dfi for $299 has digital pwm and that make OCing A LOT better. thats how ppl have been getting such great OCs on the board.

well considering you told me the Asus p6t dlx sucked and I didn't listen, and it did end up being a pos (bios kept locking up on me) i think i should listen this time.
