so i put together my water cooling loop last night.. d-tek db1 pump, fuzion v2 block, 1/2"id-5/8"od hosing, swiftec quiet power 120.2 rad and a microres from swiftec.

so far everything is going fine... but i'm gonna have to choose a coolant as i'm sure just pure distilled water with no additives is going be be problematic as time goes on..

no i'm using a copper block and brass... i believe radiator(correct me if i'm wrong, it looks like brass). so i'm not worried about galvanic corrossion but i do need to find a proper coolant solution to minimize maintence and maximize cooling...

i'm at 28idle and 47 load during prime95 quad stress test.

tell me what coolants work for you and what i should be doing.. if you can suggest things taht can be bought at my local hardware/auto parts store that would be great. thanx a lot.

I'm pretty sure it isn't brass. (I could be wrong)

Don't they use aluminium and copper?

prestone 50/50 pre-mixed antifreeze - been running it for years same pump, block, tubing... never had an issue. Never leaves residue either... just dont spill it... stuff never dries.

You will rarely find water cooling products made from aluminum unless it's sold as a complete system using all aluminum. Aluminum and copper do not mix.

For my system I use Koolance's "High Performance Coolant". Since I use Koolance blocks and the EXOS2 I decided to stick with their coolant.

Here is what they have in their coolant:
• Distilled Water: 70 wt%
• Propylene Glycol: 27 wt% (CAS #:57-55-6)
• Additives: 3 wt%

Here is some more useless mumbojumbo (at least to me):
• Boiling Point: 103ºC
• Vapor Pressure: 17 mmHg (20ºC)
• Volatility: not determined
• Specific Gravity: 1.03 (20/20ºC)
• pH: 7.3
• Solubility in water: Soluble in water at room temperature

Hope this helps:)

thanx.. yeah i heard a lot of people speak out against using antifreeze because it's normally thicker then water and could kill a pump... apparently the m3n-ht does not have anything in the way of a cpu threshold shutoff but idk... i want safe because if the pump stops.. well i might be in trouble lol

distilled water is best possible coolant. adding anything to it just lowers its cooling ability.

how would food dye lower it?

I have replaced the coolant in my system several times because of hardware additions and subtractions (replacing E6600 with E8500, then adding two water cooled 4870's, and finally replacing with a GTX 295 (not water cooled)) and have not had a problem with staining. I find that the price for a bottle of coolant from a manufacture for $15.00 to be within reason and affordability.

take apart your cpu block. i bet something will be in there depending on how long you've run the loop.

here is 1 month of UV blue feser dye in a GTZ...

i used about 10 drops in straight distilled water. nothing else.

Silver "kill coils" are a method of treating your water through silver filtration. Silver has been a long time "biocide" and TBH I use it topically when I have stuff like pinkeye. It works. Right now I'm running silver water in my rig that I ionized myself. Silver Ionized water is just as good as silver biocidal tubing, or kill coils.
