Diablo 3 System Specs and Release Date?

Kaputik.com just released today a story of the release date and system specs of the game.

September 11 2009
The release date for the online beta multiplayer trial version

The final version, available for purchase is to be released before Christmas:

24th December, 2009

Here are the system requirements for PC:

* Windows XP/ Vista
* 1.4GHz or higher CPU
* 1GB RAM
* 128Mb video card Dx9
* 4-8GB Hard Drive Space

And for MacOS X 10.3 or higher:

* 1.6Ghz CPU
* 1GB RAM
* 128MB ATI or Nvidia video card
* 4-8GB Hard Drive Space

Just a rumor. Wouldnt put much into it.

Those system specs seem a little light for something using the Havoc engine.

Well... the last time i checked hmv.co.uk it was available for pre-order (Rel. date 24.04.2009)! And now: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=225;6;-1;-1;42&sku=833532
(Rel. date 24.08.2009). Perhaps the next date will jump another 4 months and will beeee.... let me see... ahaaa... probably 24.12.2009..... at least i hope so

So far Blizzard has always optimized quite well and offered decent graphics with low system specs. They never went for high end graphics, they want their audience to be able to play their games.

Blizzard actually works hard and long on their games to make them as close as possible to perfect. Unlike EA or other series games that come out once a year.

Although that's true, looking at the video's there is NO way that system spec will be able to produce even half of what the video shows...

So to me it looks like Crysis Minimum Specs... About as useless as it gets, sure 640x480 all low settings, no physics, no hdr etc etc..

shadowfolds right, plus blizzard always super refines there games so they can work on prettymuch anything and still have the possibility to look good.

I know Havok is a scalable physics engine. But I have watched all the teasers and movies they have released. You wont get that quality with those specs.

So excited for this game...I can't wait. I have been playing Sacred 2, and Drakensang, while fun they just aren't the dungeon crawl monster looting massive mob attack experience I am looking for.

Since there is a new patch for Diablo II in the works, I highly doubt Diablo III will be released this year. EPIC games take time I guess.

Considering how far back Starcraft 2 has been pushed... Diablo 3, probably 2nd quarter 2010.

They do have a big long lasting name, but personally I was not very happy with any of the above... Starcraft was good for awhile I guess, it really did last until it was replaced by far superior games for me..

Diablo and Diablo 2 were just more like Adventure games than RPG games... The old click to slash and kill drove me nuts of boredom.

Warcraft 3 I love with a passion, a great game, although still needs balancing...

Requiem: Bloodymare and Hellgate: London use Havok too and have less requirements than those two and little more than what we've got at first post. Even F.E.A.R. used Havok: http://www.havok.com/content/blogcategory/44/84/. Besides Blizzard always makes games with no high requirements to play, so I bet this requirements could be ok for minimal settings.

Where? Here: Starcraft first. It is still live in Korea for example, where are pro leagues (with sponsored pro teams) with a lot of money to win. Even on World Cyber Games we play that game (release date: 31 March 1998! and the latest patch is from this year: 2009!). In fact we play Starcraft: Broodwar, which was a year later released if I remember correctly...

Personally Starcraft was only a good game from Blizzard (played on polish pro league for some time few years ago) and Diablo1&2 or Warcraft1,2&3 - I've never like it. I've excluded WoW, which I've never played (no money, no time for mmo).
