You have quad 9800's, ofcourse it's gonna run good for you :p
I have duel 4850s and It runs like ass on my system. Darkmatter may disagree with me but I smell GPU vendor favoritism.
Another example of this would be the shadows the BF2 engine uses. They look awesome on an Nvidia system but suck on an ATI one.

Im seeing this as a revamp on the Cryengine to be multiplatform.. and predict that there would be no visual advancement infused to it. You wont be using any raytracing cards jsut yet. Multiplatform just the way UT3 engine is (which btw, is an income generating engine).. more money in it as well. They shouldve thought of this in the first place. Exclusivity is dead. Evolve to mulitplatform or die! :D

I would like to see companies revisit strong storyline instead of graphics at this point. Things look pretty darn good these days, and we're all ready for a cinema style game that blows our minds.

I mean, just because I put a ton of special effects into a sci fi movie or something, it doesn't make it good.

I honestly have always wanted to see a cinema style first person shooter type of game based on the revolutionary war, where you basically view the war from a soldier's standpoint from start to finish to an extent. Maybe call of duty will do this someday.

Well, actually, I think it would. In battles, each shot would be taken more carefully, instead of randomly spraying a machine gun.

I'm not just talking about a point and click game here, I'm talking about a game with a real story behind it. Perhaps you could serve as a medic in some missions. Perhaps the game could take two different directions where you decide not to revolt and you sign up with the british army. Maybe you're a captured slave forced to fight on the british side. I mean, there's a game there. It doesn't always need to be something as mindless and stupid as running around clicking on things to shoot them dead.

I'm ranting now. A whole other discussion for a whole other thread lol

LOL. You can be an independent and shoot anyone who gets close to you with a sidearm :p

What about a game where you time travel back to the American Revolution with modern day equipment. Like a "Philadelphia Experiment" kinda game. Strap some C4 to a horses back and fuck up some redcoats! JIHAD! LALALALALALALALA

Why stop there? Why not go all the way back to when dinosaurs roamed the planet. Can you imagine how cool it would be to fire chainsaw bazookas at t-rex's?

I have duel 4850s and It runs like ass on my system. Darkmatter may disagree with me but I smell GPU vendor favoritism.
Another example of this would be the shadows the BF2 engine uses. They look awesome on an Nvidia system but suck on an ATI one.

I don't disagree to the fact that it runs better on Nvidia cards, because it was better optimized. I do disagree completely on WHY it was better optimized for Nvidia cards. There's nothing shaddy there guys. LOL. It amazes me how you guys expect (and see as normal) up to 50% improvements from driver releases, but are unable to understand the difference that can make having early access to hardware, 24h engineer support and 250+ different hardware setups to test the latest builds in Nvidia's labs in Moskow. Really, all of you are paranoic.

Yeah nvidia does support developers more than ati thats why more games are optimised for their cards.

Ya, and my 8600 GTS runs as better. Would much rather have two of those then this card.

But yes the rest is true, i even think TF2 is that way as it was even being bundled with an Ati card upon release. But i play TF2 on my Nvidia system and it still looks great.(even tho i have pointed out a few better looking things on my bros Ati system when he plays TF2)

Dark your very much assuming Nvidia and ATI have honest business practices. I honestly think any GPU company supporting a game is a conflict of interest. Ever heard the term "I scratch your back and you scratch mine."?

I don't think it's a conflict at all. Ati's and Nvidia's bussiness is to give the better gaming experience possible and you can't do that just releasing hardware. Ati could very easily do the same thing as Nvidia does (in fact it was much richer than Nvidia some years ago), it's their call not to do it and the result is no other than costumers having to wait until the next driver release to have a good gaming experience with newer games. You can't create a racing car and not give access to your driver so that it can train, or not tell him what the best properties of that car are, how it can take curves faster, etc. You just can't say as long as it's compliant with DirectX it's all OK, first of all because M$ doesn't work closely enough with game developers to implement what the latter think are the best things (actually M$ works much closer with Ati and Nvidia, Ati more since the economic discrepancies Nvidia and M$ had with the Xbox1 GPU) and second, because developers might not know how to implement those features in their games and our cards.

EDIT: if Nvidia had any dishonest behavior with TWIMTBP, the issue with Assasins Creed would have never happened, no one would ever think Nvidia asked to remove DX10.1 soon AFTER the release, because Ubi would have NEVER implemented it to begin with. The Ati DX10.1 cards were out months prior to AC release, don't you think that Nvidia could have tested the game when the latest build was sent to them and just stop it before it was released? What's the point of waiting 1-2 weeks after release???

Also STALKER, FarCry 1/2, FEAR, UT3 to name a few would never play better on Ati cards and they do. Don't you see that just doesn't fit into your view??

EDIT2: I didn't knew this one: FALLOUT3 is TWIMTBP too...

Ya... no conflict of interest there.... There is just a big Intel and Nvidia logo in your face when you start up the game.

P.S. there are tweaks to get crossfire to scale better in crysis.

Ya... no conflict of interest there.... There is just a big Intel and Nvidia logo in your face when you start up the game.

Yes, and that's pretty much all that Nvidia and Intel get from developers in that deal. You think it's not enough? It is.

The fact, that twimtbp games are mostly developed on nvidia hardware is the proof, that there is more behind that logo than a commercial.

Anyway, amd needs to get money somewhere for such programs, because it gets more and more important.

Sounds like just another nail in the coffin for PC games.
How the hell can ATI or nvidia sell new gpus when there are no graphicaly demanding pc games?
My evga 8800gtx (Overclocked) can handle ANY console port hands down, even Crysis on high ,no aa=25 to 45fps.The ONLY reason I need a new card is to play crysis at higher frame rates.
By the way,I wont buy another card till they come out with one that plays crysis @60 fps or better,Im not paying $300-$500 for 5 or 10% improvment

Pc only games are already dead,You just dont want to admit it.

So you're saying PC gaming is dead because developers are concentrating more on gameplay instead of graphics? Oh dammit I knew this was gonna happen some day!!!
