All that has been done is downclocking the card until the power requirements are below 75w, if you OC this in a non PCI-E 2.0 motherboard, you're gonna run into trouble.

LOL. This isnt going to affect 2D performance and power utilisation much. Power needs kick in for 3D. So this card isnt so much 40% less power as 40% less performance. :slap:

I'd like to see some performance per watt stats for this card... then rub those stats up Carsten Berger's nose.

If this was a 40nm fab, there would be something to talk about. But it's not!

The core clock has only been decrease 50MHz, what is that, ~8%? Not really a big difference. Seems like it would make a good HTPC card.

I really wish they would have left the PCI-E power connector on, but made it optional. Not having one will hurt overclocking. Though I don't really think people are going to be buying this card for the overclocking potential, there are plenty of better options if that is what you are after.

I think there is too much shit on a 9800GT to make it low profile. Not to mention it needs quite a large heatsink etc. I'd love to see it done though.
