Yeah, several stores have it now. I think it's $20 cheaper at a couple places. However, from what I've heard about the Rampage II, I'm not sure I'd touch this. Not to mention my tech station doesn't like micro boards. :)

here read this it looks like a very good board http://www.techspot.com/review/154-asus-rampage-2-gene/ atleast for the money

Rampage II GENE http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=179&l3=815&l4=0&model=2853&modelmenu=1

also check out it's phase power it adds 2x phase to QPI and N/B most only have memory and cpu

Power Design
- 8-phase CPU power
- 2-phase QPI/DRAM power
- 2-phase NB power
- 2-phase Memory power

to me this board looks very good . Heck it even has 775 cooler mounting holes.

I would love to see someone do a head-to-head comparison with the DFI Lanparty JR X58-T3H6, especially where overclocking is concerned

The DFI Lan party JR is a little beast. It has a digital power phase but is 6+2. I believe still it is a overclocking monster.

I have mine comming this week, i';; run some tests and see how it stacks up, I was very excited to be able to upgrade my current matx gig /4300 setup with this one, now it will handle all the games in a sweet little Antec case. I will also p[air it up with the new 920 DO that should be here next week also, if they are truely cooler running it will be a very sweet match up!

Yeah, I think it means something like it shares "genes" with it's big brother, the Rampage II Extreme.

I have a highspeed tech station with 2 nylon screw to mount standard ATX boards to it. I'm wondering how stable the board will be on it, if I can only use one of the screws...hmmm....

I'm sure we share genes with simeans, but I dont call myself a chimp?!?!

Either way I just found it odd, and was wondering, I "guess" thats a good enough reason to use the name.

well you have two supports for the mobo and one screw?

I can actually hang my board in my Xclio as they have odd risers that come with the case that allow you to "snap" the mobo into place on them. works fine that way. with your being on water it isnt like the board is going to bow under the weight of a V10....lol

You just want it to not go anywhere if you bump it really!

I may buy one aswell.

Just ordered the GENE. For a long time I hated ASUS after a RMA nightmare I had with them years ago. However, after my experience with the Maximus Formula, I've gained some faith in their higher end boards. I hope this is a good one. :)

and it really is a 16 +2 +2 +2 power system and the 16 is turned down in the bios to save power until you enable the other half of the cpu phase. Sounds like power wise this should be stable as hell considering the DFI is 6+2.

Also here is another good review. http://www.ocaholic.ch/xoops/html/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=266&page=0, another http://www.trustedreviews.com/motherboards/review/2009/03/19/Asus-Rampage-II-Gene/p1 and a third http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2342895,00.asp?kc=ETRSS03039TX1K000056

Well, I should have mine on Wednesday or Thursday. I hope it's as good as the reviews are saying. I'm cautiously optimistic.

So this is your wife's PC? She's getting an i7? You're probably the only guy on TPU who's wife will have a better PC than 90% of TPU members...LOL:laugh:

My wife/kid's build is a simple AMD 5000+ BE with a 9600gso. They don't really need more than that, and frankly they don't care since basically all they ever do is surf and small business applications.

When in the hell is your Bloodrage coming for heck sakes, and that little asus board is a beast from what I read it was designed for the Asian market to be the premier lan box overclocking motherboard. Apparently thats a giant market in China and Korea. It really is a top of the line little board but it needs better cooling and your water set up will do nicely. They really made a effort to make it have everything it's big brother has. The only thing they could have added was a Noctua cooler? Lol!!!

Yeah, nothing like waiting and waiting, and xpcgear has NOT been helpful with providing an estimate for me. I've got a good feeling about the Gene though. I hope I'm right. From what I understand, the Gene may be a better product than the Rampage II is (minus the extra PCI-E slots), as they addressed some of the problems that users were having with the Rampage II. Well see...

And I can't wait to put Cyberdruid's custom res to work on this build!
