nah, he just has the money and desire to have a faster system. Those frames on UT3 for u from the HD 4870 got GTX285 doesn't sound right now, the GTX 285 shouldn't perform almost 700% faster lol

2048x1536 8x AA 16x AF in a 512 MB card. I would say it's very posible. The GPU has the power, but it lacks the memory.

Not entirely on topic but since no one else has mentioned I just have to type it for the record: You are nuts!!!

Hmmm, ya know, ya might be right lol. But it's liquid smooth and looks truly gorgeous!

It is right when the 4870 is running out of RAM at this extreme setting, as I explained a few posts back. I have all the latest drivers and Windows updates, so it's not a software glitch.

Oh noes! The red army has already hit this thread, but TBH I can't disagree with them. This guy uses high res AND wants AA so ATi's cards would be the best option.

For 1920 res or lower yes. Currently the GTX 275 is faster for 2560 res + AA.

Also, hopefully ATI fixes the huge AA hit on the 4890s in Cat 9.4 or 9.5s.

Exactly...and it still wouldn't be as smooth as the 285 and I really dislike animation judders.

That's a load of bull but it doesn't matter. It seems Qubit has good taste and went with the nicer card instead of resorting to crossfire or an x2 like he would have had to.

Thanks. :)

Also, nvidia put decently quiet fans on their cards. On my 8800GTX & GTX285 you can hear them, but they aren't annoying - and that's with the motherboard mounted on an open frame on the table right next to me. Admittedly, my 4870 achieve quietness when working hard, but at the expense of cooking itself. As soon as you spin it up, it's almost as noisy as the one on my 2900XT. In fact, you can see that they're actually the same crap design. Spin the nvidia fans like that and they aren't half as bad.

I can't stand loud fans and that's as good a reason as any to avoid ATI. It doesn't cost much to fit quiet ones, so there's no excuse for this cost-cutting by ATI.
