This is a beta driver for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, and 200-series desktop GPUs has been released. We can recommend this driver VERY MUCH as it entails several performance improvements.

New in Release 185.66:

* Adds support for the new GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
* Accelerates performance in several 3D applications. The following are examples of improvements measured with Release 185 drivers vs. Release 182 drivers (results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings):
o Up to 11% performance increase in Call of Duty: World at War
o Up to 5% performance increase Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts
o Up to 22% performance increase Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled
o Up to 11% performance increase in Fallout 3 with antialiasing enabled
o Up to 14% performance increase in Far Cry 2
o Up to 45% performance increase in Mirror’s Edge with antialiasing enabled
* Supports GeForce Plus Power Pack #3. Download these FREE PhysX and CUDA applications now!
* Numerous bug fixes. Refer to the release documentation notes.
* Users without US English operating systems can select their language and download the International driver here.

Existing Support:

* Supports single GPU and NVIDIA SLI technology on DirectX 9, DirectX 10, and OpenGL, including 3-way SLI, Quad SLI, and SLI support on SLI-certified Intel X58-based motherboards.
* Includes full support for OpenGL 3.0.
* Supports NVIDIA SLI Multi-monitor support, giving you the ability to use two monitors with your GeForce graphics cards in SLI mode. Learn more here.
* Supports NVIDIA PhysX acceleration on a dedicated GeForce graphics card. Use one card for graphics and dedicate a different card for PhysX processing for game-changing physical effects. Learn more here. Note: GPU PhysX is supported on all GeForce 8-series, 9-series and 200-series GPUs with a minimum of 256MB dedicated graphics memory. This driver package automatically installs the new PhysX System Software version 9.09.0203.
* Supports GPU overclocking and temperature monitoring by installing NVIDIA System Tools software.

We have a discussion thread open on these drivers right here.

Bummer - my 8800 GTX will have to wait. Guess a card is getting a little long in the tooth when beta releases don't support it.

Attached is the modded inf I made. 8800GTX/Ultra/GTS will work. ;)

To install, download appropriate drivers (page 1), extract with winrar, replace "nv_disp.inf" with the modified version, open "setup.exe".

These drivers still cause that weird rainbow effect with Half Life 2. I did notice improved image quality in Crysis, GTA4, and really any game that I have tried, but I got some occasional artifacting. Performance with AA is also much better. These drivers have alot of potental but are pretty buggy. More of an alpha than a beta. They only work for GT200 series cards but there are modded drivers at Guru3d for 8xxx series. They are an offical beta. It's worth a shot. I can't wait for a stable 185.xx.

Just a question that i've wondered for a while, since the 7 series were released like 4 years ago, none of these driver updates since maybe a year ago actually improve performance do they for these older chips?

These drivers keep crashing for me with Win XP SP3..... I can't even get an install to complete successfully (no reboot request at end of install)...

Anyone else have any luck installing 185.66 / 185.68 with XP x86 SP3?

Update:

Managed to get the 186.68 installed ok on XP with SP3 .... still no luck getting 185.66 to do the same ..... so if you are running XP i'd say avoid 185.66....
